Hi, I'm a very frustrated guy,
short story, I just purchased a salvage car, it is a Honda Civic Hybrid 2004, was told it had 67k miles and i believed the guy who sold it to me (never checked the miles since the car does not have a battery installed, it is in the painting shop), now that I checked the car it has 246k miles!!! and I already purchased it (now the seller tells he never told me the miles, he is a fraud). I would love to know what service has already been done to it, I know there are places who provide this information for $$$$, I don't really want to trow money away if the car is not worth it, any one can please help? may be a carfax report?
Does any one know what is the IMA life in miles and the engine life in miles?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You learned a very important lesson here! I don't need to state the obvious! I know there are ways too find out about the history of a vehicle but I'm not to sure about service on it!

I learned that you cannot trust any one, even those who call them selves as "Christians" but they are not. A real Christian wouldn't do that for sure.

Thanks EK...

Usually if someone uses their religion as a reason to trust them, you can't trust them.

depends on how well the engine was taken care of.... if it was raced alot and not taken care as far as maint. then it could go anyday but i would be surprised if you got another 30000 out of it... if it was taken care of and never raced i've seen them get 300,000 400,000 miles or more! flush and change every single fluid you can if i was you..... and if i was you i'd do an engine swap asap.....

fraud are low life peices of shi+

Did you go to the guys house to buy the car? If you did then go burn it down and call it even.

Which is totally rational if he's in El Salvador. Seriously? Could this guy pick a more ridiculous country to fake a location? lol

What? The OP is in El Salvador, who said anything about the seller using a fake location? The OP never said HOW he bought the car...

There's really no way to tell except taking it to a reputable shop and letting them give it a once over to let you know what shape it's in. 250,000 miles on a car that's 7 years old puts it at an average of 36,000 miles/year... that would average to like 120mile/roundtrip daily... the only way to rack up that kind of mileage is highway?... that tells you something.

A carfax is going to tell you insurance claims and police reports, so it may be worth the $30 or whatever to find out if it's been smashed around. Good luck, hope it turns out to be in decent condition.

Wassup guys. I bought a 2005 Civic Hybrid back in February and it only had 76k miles at the time. It also had a salvage title. Well it was all fine and dandy until I had it for about 4 months. The IMA light went on. I disconnected the regular battery for about 10 minutes and connected it back on and the light had went off. As time passed, it started turning on again, each time staying off for a shorter amount of time. Now the IMA light doesnt turn off at all. Can anyone help? Is it time for a new IMA battery?
