New Honda... At least to me....

Sup,

Picked up a replacement civic. Last one was back in '07, and then went to a Nissan truck. Missed the Civic, so I figured I'd take it another step and picked up my new beaut. It's a 2002 Civic Si, 5 speed manual. Previous owner dropped it, new rims, put a Supercharger in, and even put in the body brace. A lot faster than my '03 Civic LX I had, and MUCH faster than my Xterra lol.

Planning on dropping it off at a friends to comb through and make sure everything was installed correctly that the previous owner put in. Possibly down the road dropping in a K20a2 in it to replace the a3. I mean the a2 is ridiculous and about as indestructible as you can get. So yeah...

If anyone has thoughts on other mods, please be sure to let me know. Is my DD, but always possibly a race or show car. Haven't decided, but understand it could run me some decent cash. She's my new pride and joy, and being 23 definitely makes me a target for police lol

Oh forgot to ask this,

This is my first actual performance vehicle, I noticed the manual calls for regular gas in the Si (was kinda surprised), but since I have the Supercharger... is it suggested to stick with Premium (93)? Or still use regular or mid?

So far, I've been just sticking with premium to play it safe.

Thanks!

I would think that this depends on your tune. If you've got a good tune, then it's probably just as good to run regular-grade in it than it is premium. If you're running with no tune, or if the computer isn't compensating for your new A/F ratio, then running high-test might be a good idea to avoid any pre-detonation. I'd look into it though... gas sucks enough already.

your gas is going to depend on your tune...to be safe i'd run your highest available octane.

engine wise, i'd swap in a k24a2 instead for the huge midrange torque with the same peak power as an k20a2

Hmm, aight. Well I have Sunoco right in front of my house, and they have the best 93 Octane priced around so I'll stick with that for now. I live in Woodbridge/Manassas, VA so like an hour from DC if I push it.

Unfortunately, I don't have the numbers yet. Really need to get it on a lift so I can take a look at what the previous driver did to it, and also get what it can do.

Thanks. I was definitely thinking of getting a lip, but haven't found any decent one's for the car yet. As for lowering it, I drive through some bumpy area's. Might just stick with the height it's at for now lol.

$8,900, still paying it off. I'll have the title by Summer 2012.

1 Owner, $89,000 miles on it. And the carfax shows he used a Honda Dealership for all major maintenance. Not bad, but could have probrably saved money by doing it themselves.

Thanks fodo, I am sure the previous did take care of it. The inside it mint, except a small stain on the driver seat which I will be trying to remove. Looks like spilt coffee.

And umm, not quite sure. I checked the full kit from Jackson and everytthing seems to be what shows in the kit online that's in my engine bay. I am probrablly dropping it off at a shop sometime this weekend or next week, gunna have them do a diagnosis of the car just to make sure nothing on the car is bad, and I will have them check to see if it was tuned or not. Unfortunately, I bought the car from a dealer, so they don't keep that info on hand. Not sure about the Kpro either...

Besides, 93 around here is only $3.56, so not TOO bad lol

Question tho, the pulley for the Supercharger likes to squeel when I first start the car when it's straight cold. Lasts a little longer recently cause it's been colder in the morning. Any suggestions to make that stop? Was just thinking about spraying some WD40 into the slot the rod for the pulley goes into... unless I shouldn't.

Update:

I just checked, and I have the first Supercharger listed on here:

http://www.supercharger.com/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=39967

Civic SI Supercharger System - Tuned by Powercard

That's the one, and I actually found the Powercard attached to my ECU under my glovebox the other day, it fell out from where they had it sitting. I moved it to a more secure place to keep it from falling again.

Any suggestions? Should I replace the powercard with a KPro? Or just keep the powercard? Does this mean that the car is indeed tuned, and 93 Octane isn't required anymore?

Like I said, kinda new to performance parts, including KPro. My old civic had at most was the stock engine, a CAI, and a Cat-Back, but never touched anything else.

no its likely to have been tuned on 93 so keep running 93

that is probably a very safe and "cookie cutter" type tune from Jackson Racing, it would make more power on kpro and being dyno tuned by a reputable tuner.

At this point your car seems to be safe but it can do more, and thats up to you

Hmm,

Alright, thanks for those comments. I really need to find a good tuner shop around Manassas, VA. If anyone in VA has a suggestion, don't hold back lol.

I've been thinking about KPro, something that I will have to plan my paychecks for and then get it done.
