92 Vx Hatch

I recently picked up a '92 Civic Vx Hatch.
It has some problems which I overlooked, because I missed my old Honda.

- Throwout Bearing makes an awful noise.
-When I have my parking lights on, my dash lights up. When I turn on my headlights, the dash goes dark.
-Terrible stereo (which I suspect might be messing with my lights)
-Shocks in the hatch are pretty much blown.
-Amateur paint (looks decent in pictures)
-Needed a tuneup.

When I test drove it, anything past half throttle would turn the car into a helicopter. Not in the good way where I fly into the sky to find paradise on a distant planet, but in the bad way where the plug wires are original with 146k miles on them and the exhaust makes a helicopter noise. I talked her down a few hundred for that, drove it down the block to a parts store, and solved that problem quickly.

Anywho, I figured I'd post about it here because it's raining outside (WASHINGTON!!) so I can't play with the car.

-D15Z1, I'm slowly falling in love with eco-vtec.
-skunk2 coilovers
-A few JDM lips
-Gold HX wheels and Honda Emblems
-Some muffler with stock piping, sound quiet but deep.
-Clean body, I found one small ding and one small dent that aren't obvious when you look at the car.

I'd love to hear suggestions for mods. For now I'm going to keep the vtec-e motor.
I'm thinking hids, and new wheels for sure. When I do the clutch i'll probably also do a short shifter. And if anybody has a suggestion for putting speakers in the rear without buying the super expensive panels, I'd like to hear them. Maybe just some boxed 6x9's in the hatch?

Here's a picture. I'll add more as I take them.

I personally wouldn't modify the VX in any way. Honda has done a great job with making it very fuel efficient. My brother just bought a 92' VX hatchback a while ago. $1200. Not sure what you paid. It also has some nasty big pipe on stock piping. Thankfully we have everything to fix the car. It too has a horrible paint job.

People will suggest to get rims, keep the stock VX wheels. They are skinny for a reason. Unless upgrading doesn't add too much weight and stress. I bet these wheels weight about 15 pounds assembled.

If you don't plan on keeping it for the economical purpose of the vehicle. I would go with at least a B18 of some sort. B16A's are really nice but I wouldn't get another one. A B18C Sir-G in stock formation just swapped into this car will get you to go around a half second faster in the 1/4 mile.

I would Swap, new paint/ body work, some sort of wheels you like, a lip kit, some amber corners. Call it a day.

You took the words out of my mouth dammit!

As for speakers, I'd go with kicker all the way and alpine for your head unit.

I would do purely cosmetic mods with that car, I def wouldnt touch the engine besides maintenance and make sure youre getting maximum MPGs out of it.

Looks alright in the pics. lol as far as staying away from mods, I would do with it what you please. That motor was designed for fuel economy so keep that in mind but if you want to throw some bolt ons on it, go for it. As far as a swap goes I vote b18. or ls/vtec. Good luck with it!

My ex had a vx. I absolutely loved that car! Her, not so much...

I think its funny how 4th gear never ends and fifth gear is pointless.

Very nice looking car!

If you decide to do a motor swap before that motor goes bad, I wanna buy it :D

btw i really like the car and im kinda in the boat with everyone else as far as not molesting it, just do suspension and brakes and a good sterio that you liek and leave the rest alone
