Yeah I don't have my own camera right now so I borrowed a friends, I have to give it back tomorrow so I wanted to take advantage of as many opportunities.... Also my wife want to come so I got to spend some quality time.... We ended up not even shooting just checking some places out for future shoots....

Found out that my place of employment won the city's "Best placed to work" award after being a finalist for the last few years.

.Shiiiiit. I'm a contractor so I can't get a raise. I'm hoping to get hired by the end of my contract next April. Everyone in my department recognizes me as a very hard worker and my boss told me he's trying to get my hired but the company stopped hiring last year to cut on expenses.Woot! I got a raise. Only 35 cents but at least they recognize all my hard work.
This is what I don't get... My company flies through contractors. They pay some joe schmoe off the street to come in, learn everything, f**k s**t up while learning, and then boot him out a year later. Why not just have some joe schmoe off the street who knows what the f**k he/she is doing, hire them and be done with all the bullshit of re-training someone constantly? Doesn't make any sense. Since I started last October, we have had 3 different guys come in for my position. 1 was an incompetent moron who had a bad work ethic and randomly stopped showing up without notice, another guy was actually a hard and good worker, he was just slow, and now the third guy that's there now is just a waste of space.
you automatically get booted after your contract is up? im a contractor too and it does not work like that at the company im with. i work with some people who chose to extend their contract and stay on as a contractor once their intial year was up. is it possible you can do that if your company doesnt hire you direct?Just bustin your chops
