^ thats the beautiful thing about having a wife that goes to work before I wake up... always a pot of coffee waiting for me when I get up.

I'll probably just be working in the yard and cleaning the house today. Might take my boy to a park later and finish some more little projects around the house for the wifey. Another trip to lowes is in my future.

Already did a load of laundry, now I'm trying to get the motivation to make scrabbled eggs while I suck down my coffee.

Well, while Avery was captivated by kipper I snuck upstairs and jumped on the workstation. I felt like throwing together something different and brushing up on my acoustic drum programming... just a little jam track:

Usually my biggest problem is making the drums sound way too tight, which in turn sounds un-natural... I don't know though. John, what do you think? Could you play that, that tight?

Working on the house with my dad today and watching some football. Need to finish closing up the garage because of all the holes we put in it then possibly put insulation in the attic.

Quite easy to play; I could play that as well. I like it, but something sounds a bit off. I primarily listen to rock, and it almost more like that; it's just a bit too sharp for the beat.

You seriously have some good talent. Do you have a page of all your work, or do you mostly use MySpace?

Thanks. Yea, I've never played drums, or any instrument for that matter... so it's hard for me to grasp the limitations, or to understand what small little details are involved that affect the sound of certain instruments. And when it comes to drums, the way I program just to save time is with auto-quantize always on, and when I'm done laying or programming all the parts, everything is in perfect time... and to me that sounds good, but I know it doesn't sound natural.

I've always just used myspace to showcase tracks... It was the first networking tool I had and I just got used to it. A lot of people switched to soundclick to sell their beats, but I always had enough clients that I worked with in person that I never made the transition. And now that this is mostly a hobby, I just don't have the time:cry:

I didn't know you played. Any other instruments?

Have you ever tried to compare genres of drums? Listen to your hip hop, then listen to rock/alt rock, hard, etc. You'll hear the difference instantly.

I was a band, choir, and show choir geek from 5th grade til I graduated. My primary instrument was the lead B flat clarinet and Contrabass clarinet, but I played the entire woodwind section except flute. I tried brass, primarily coronet and french horn. I started percussion w/ the bass but got bored fast and went into set w/ the jazz band, and also learned guitar. I'd LOVE to keep learning bass. I've dabbled in 5 string and want to master that.

That's the thing, I've never been a big music connoisseur... I like some types of music, but I don't like a lot more... and I don't explore for different styles as much as I should. I listen mostly to indie rock, experimental, and underground rock/folk... and hip hop. and a lot of the drumming in those genres is very abstract and less driving beats. But I know what you're talking about. I know how to make the drums sound less mechanical... it just feels like anti-productive because it's easier for my process to leave them very tight.

But the program I use is really cool, and I'm always learning new ways and tricks to achieve different things. Syncopation, velocity, shuffle... I'm just lazy.

My family is cooking chicken pot pies for the next 35 minutes. The oven is buzzing and it is really annoying.

I decided to make my ghetto casserole today.

Brown 2lbs hamburger/seasonings/onion, drain
ADD TO BURGER IN CASSEROLE DISH:
1green bell pepper
1 large can cream of mushroom
eyeball milk to make it the texture i like
eyeball corn to mix

smooth out into dish,
layer with mozzarella cheese and fried onions
top w/ a layer of frozen tater tots(yup i said it's ghetto)
bake covered at 400* til tots are golden crunchy brown
remove foil, sprinkle with more cheese, inhale

i can't wait!

I'm also going to tan at some point, maybe, but I am definitely working on the car today again and winterizing her.
