My names Nick i'm 16 and from Massachusetts im currently a high school student who drives a stock 1998 honda civic DX,

Couldn't keep it sitting how it was, so got some used yonakas said to be 2months old

Only installed the fronts, rear is stock height. ( Tires are 215-60-14 so they are huge and rubbed bad on driver side )

Driver side was a little lower than passenger side.
came to find out something is wrong with one of the front coilovers. no matter how much i raised the car by the lower mount it kept going to the same height after the car sat for a little while. seemed too bouncy for me and my buddy drove the car and told me it seemed a little too bouncy sometimes. not sure if that means its blown or what ever. passenger side was fine and rears i never installed.

Bought the yonakas for $300. seemed like a decent deal

I'm the 2nd owner of this car, its really clean inside and engine bay, exterior may look clean but its got flaws.

Plans are to get a d16z6 swap, build the block and turbo it.

Not installed:
Skunk2 dual bend short shifter
Blox lcas
BWR shift knob
Esuse fog lights

Clean body. I think it would look better w/ the hubcaps back on. Looks like a POS beater w/o them IMO.

Welcome, looks clean man. It sounds like the front shock is blown. I would definitely install the rears if you are going to keep the front coils on though.

Hubcaps were off only for that day and i ended up gettin brand new suspension. and now the front end sits higher than the rear for now. trying to sell my coilovers as is to get some money back and buy new set. possibly Progress or koni/gc found a set of koni/gc for 450 with 10k miles on them but i need to have them shipped and guy said its $50 for shipping. not sure if i should buy the koni/gc used or just buy progress coilovers and its getting boring driving it around stock lol i want boost

You read my mind ^

OP, I wouldn't bother putting the yonakas on the rear... they have proven to be crap and I wouldn't trust them. In fact, I would reinstall the factory struts in front if you still had them. Sell the yonakas that aren't blown and save up for a decent set of coilovers. You've got a nice base there... invest in quality parts and keep it nice.

Brand new stock suspension up in front, sits a little higher than rear. Hubcaps are back on and im gettin SI wheels soon. also my mind is set on Progress coilovers or koni/gc. it sucks having to wait tho thats what happened i just wanted to lower the car and a kid localy had yonakas and i heard some things that they were great for daily driver so i bought it just to be lowered and now its kicking me in the ass. but oh well live and learn

Need some advice on what to do. Either get my exterior looking how i want then worry about interior and engine or engine first. personally i want to do few things to exterior. mainly spoon style mirros and 00 taillights and SI wheels and get it lowered then i want to work on engine. d16z6 swap built block turboed my HP goal is 280-300HP. dont flame. everybody is doing B swaps and K swaps. but im new to the game, and i think my first build being a d16 turbo would be great because its cheaper to build and nobody really builds them anymore so why not be different

Well it sounds like you have a plan then. Just really research what you want to do because there's usually a thread for 99% of the questions you have.

How many miles do you have on the z6?

I say engine first, but the exterior stuff is usually cheaper so you can buy it as work on performance.

Exactly BE DIFFERENT ! Im just putting a custom short ram intake, and headers on my stock d16y7, just this because around here the the biggest thing your facing is a stock corolla...=) so just to shut people up. Or for $1000 I can have my cousins built, fully forged motor, a b20 ( I think), set up with turbo, and all the efi equiptment, with stage 3 clutch... He needs the money because he blew the rb26 in his skyline=). ( was out of his old car). But do what YOU want ... its YOUR car! make it special !

my personal philosophy has always been: looks first, then performance. My car was dented, smashed, scratched, 4x4 stance and I couldn't stand driving it. I couldn't have brought myself to spend a dime on the motor with the way it looked. I'm finally to the point where I'm happy with the exterior and interior. And, to me now it's worth maybe a swap, a build, or boosting.

I can totally see how others might feel the exact opposite. "Why waste money fixing up a slow car to look good if it can't scoot?"

It's all personal preference. What ever is more important to you is what you should aim for.

Oh oops

That wouldn't be bad. It wouldn't be a bad idea to do the rings and seals and such before you drop it.
Granted if you get new pistons you'll do it anyway ;)

Its hard because im 16 and got no job but my dad is going to help me out but if i do exterior not going to be crazy just 00 smoked style taillights, spoon mirrors, and new mesh grill. and most likely paint match everything and get SI wheels and lower it and install my esuse clear fog lights. i think it'll look good without a lip so not worried about that. but i want boost so bad but i dont want to half ass anything and turbo my y7 to make 160 hp. im either going to get z6 swap and build block. or i may just get z6 swap and get headstuds new headgasket maybe change few other things and slap an ebay turbo kit with turbonetics turbo and ride like dat on like 10psi around low 200hp and ill be havin fun then eventually build it to get my 280-300 goal.

10 lbs is plausable on stock compression

And IMO not-smoked tails look wayyy cleaner. But that's just me. And you'll probably want a lip later. I didn't really want one at first.
