hey guys, my gf just got a little 96 4dr ex at for Christmas as a present, the car is in good conditions but it has a couple problems, im going to state them bellow to see if you guys can help me fix them.

the first most important problem is the read passenger side (4dr) door wont open from the outside, it opens fine from inside but not from the outside. i opened the door to check it out and see whats wrong and found the problem, theres nothing connecting the 2 pieces circled (latch and handle, what can i buy to connect them? btw theres nothing laying around inside the door :(

the second problem is on that same door, the door lock (powered) does not work when you lock all the doors, only manually, what should i check when i open the door again?

the dome light does not work with the doors open only when you switch the switch (on light) to on, it does have a aftermarket radio so i think this thread should fix that

on the front passenger door, the window does not go down at all, via the main switch (drivers) or its own switch (door). What can it be? bad motor? how hard is it to replace? i checked to see if the switch was connected and it is

last question lol, the engine bay is very dusty and in some parts a bit oily, whats best to clean that? i was thinking a steam cleaner and a rag? also anything else to cover besides the air filter?

this little thing is full of problems but hey, it was free, ill just help her fix it up and keep it nice =) thanks guys.

Instead of bumping, have you done any research on your own?

Looks like you need the little connecting rod.
#13 or 29.

Have you checked the fuses for either of these issues? Window motor could be bad, but not hard to replace.

that diagram is for the front door, my problem is for the back roor, i was thinking more like these 3 pieces but i cant purchase all 3 parts without having to buy the whole door lock (12/21)

window motors have a fuse for each individual motor? because the only window and lock not working are those but ill check the fuses

as for the dome light, does it do the chirping when a keys in the ignition? if not maybe they spliced its wires somewhere or maybe got it jammed somehow, previous owner may of found it annoying and disabled it thru the doorjamb thats if that forum doesnt do the trick..

Problem #1: Just buy the whole handle assembly along with a new lock assembly. Leading into problem #2....

Problem #2: You need a new actuator. Personally, I would replace all 3. Unless you want to go to a junkyard and try to yank that connecting piece for problem #1 (if it's even possible to replace JUST that, I'm not sure about that). But from personal experience, power locks are a b**** to work on when it's still all attached inside the door.

Problem #3: Looks like you found a solution.

Problem #4: 6th gen power windows are notorious for having problems. If both switches don't work, I would guess odds are the motor is shot. But check fuses first. After, try running direct power to the window motor via battery. If it doesn't run at that point, it's shot.

Problem #5: Cover the distributor as well. You can go to one of those self car washes and spray engine degreaser, Simple Green, whatever you want and then use the pressure washer and blast the crap out of everything. Just try not to shoot water towards the distributor and air filter (even though it's covered, just to be on the safe side). And obviously be careful when spraying at electrical components (connectors/plugs, wires, etc.). I pull the nozzle back further for those areas for a light mist. Get up closer for metal, the engine block, etc. Or if you're feeling ambitious, get out some cleaning supplies (rags, spray/whatever, etc.) and go to town with your hands.
