Hello everybody,
I have a question in regards to amp output on a 89 alternator. The original went out and I replaced it with one from Autozone. Everything seemed fine till I got caught in the rain and had the lights A/C radio and defroster running. It started to run hot, like the gauge pegged. So I checked everything pertaining to the cooling system and couldn't find anything wrong . The next day I drive and its dry and no overheating. Over the next couple of weeks no rain cool temos. Now with daylight savings, coming home with the lights radio A/C or heater it overheats. Seems like the alternator ( which is 60 amps I checked) is not enough to power everything and maybe the cooling fans are running slow. My question is, is that possible? I looked online and have found 60,75 and 130 amp for 89 civic 1.5 or 1.6 Anybody know what the original one was rated at? Thanks for any input
