Rev Hard anyone

Ive been talking to afew shops about turboing my stock d16y8. One shop that i will be going to anyway was going to peice one together for me, build an fmic, put in a stage 2 clutch master clutch and exedy flywheel, and still do fuel system. then dyno tune it for me. I also had another shop suggest a rev hard complete kit. What should i do? Dynotech tuning is the one who would do everything for me, They built my buddies evo really good. Im only going to be doing 7-8psi anyway. just enough for 200whp. Or should i just have them put on the clutch and flywheel with the rev hard. Thanks!!

well as long as they are a reputable shop, i think youd have better results letting them piece it together, just make sure your involved in the whole process, and you give them ALOT of feed back as far as how youll use the car, how you want it to feel what you want it to do.

They specialize in turbos and DSM, They even told me they would get someone from another shop who specializes in hondas in to tune it for me. I told them how its a daily driver and how i would like to get 200whp to pacify me until i can get an Sti. And how i need it as reliable as possible, because as everyone knows something could happen to an engine not specifically built for boost. Ive never heard any complaints about them yet though. They even have a guy peicing sh*t as i speak even when i told them it wont be until spring/summer. Should that be good? And thanks for saying i should get it peiced rather than rev hard

yeah that sounds good, ive just never been a fan of "bolt on kits" because the results and aplication are very vauge, when i looked up that kit it said that it was aplicable to both the D15 and the H22.....thats a red flag to me because the same parts on the diff motors will yeald VERY different results..

also just a thought on your STi desires, (my wife and i will be doing the idea that im about to tell you about.)

do whats called an RSTi unless you just like the newer bodystyle...cause if you use the 98-01 RS and do an 04-05 Sti full drivtrain and interior swap, and it will be cheaper, faster, and less on insurance then the newer STi's

of course they'll piece together a kit for you, they'll probably charge you for it and will make profit off you as well..piece together your own kit, install it yourself, and then have them tune it..save yourself some money

I actually looked into doing that, funny you mention it. lol i love the older rs. I was reading though and I think it will take alot of custom work which will add up to being more than an STI, besides insurance. haha

No dork, all the parts bolt up( or atleast 95%), thats why i said full drivetrain / interior swap, plus if you dont want to do any of it your self theres a shop on the east coast called ECS (east coast swappers) and thats what the specualize in, you can even buy finished cars from them (and its actually cheaper then what you would pay for the 04-05 STi

well if the wife and i get the wagon its not for a kid (sense we dont have one and arent trying to any time soon.)

but its more for like, trips, hanging with friends, and when we go shoping and end up with things that need a little more space to get home lol, i mean i have a truck but its more of the haul gross stuff like trash to the dump and lumber, car parts that sorta stuff.

what'd you tell them your budget was? in some cases that could mean they'll get that much off of you and even if the parts are cheaper than that they know they can get that amount
research on the parts you need and dont let them talk you into buying useless stuff.
