By pin are you referring to one of the two 12mm bolts that hold the caliper in place on the bracket? As long as the caliper is sliding and functioning okay, you'll be fine. The only problem will be when you go to remove it.

A spongy pedal is generally caused by air in the lines. Air can get in the lines if the system was/is improperly bled or you are very low on fluid.

Which leads to the next one... An ABS light can come on if your brake fluid is low. Check the level ASAP and top it off with the recommended fluid which can be found on the cap or in your owner's manual.

Ok so I'll get brakes bled!!! And yes I'm talkn about one one the 12mm but it's not the screw that screws into but the pin itself the One with the whole! The one that has the rubber piece on it!!! Wouldn't that make the brakes wear down unevenly?

The slider bolt could possibly be seized where the threads are, making it difficult to remove. But so long as the piece of the bolt the caliper slides on is still lubricated and not seized, the brake should still work properly.

Spongy pedal would more likely be caused by air in the system. If your brake pedal is "sinking" when you are holding it at a stop light, then the master cylinder would be going bad. Bleed the system then see how it feels.

The ABS light could be a result of air in the system, or possibly a bad ABS sensor.

If the slider itself were seized, causing them to have the brakes always engaged or not allowing the piston to retract completely, then yes this would cause excessive wear on the pads and rotors. A quick and simple way to check is take a look at your brake pads on both sides of the rotor and compare them to your other front brakes. If 1 pad(inside or out of the rotor) or both of those pads on the caliper with the stuck bolt are severly worn or unevenly worn in comparison to the other caliper, then yes you have a problem and need to get it fixed asap.

They came with drum brakes. Was the light on when you bought the car?
