we were lucky to get to choose and perform a variety of pieces in concert band back in high school... even if pieces weren't chosen for performance, many of us would take sheet music we enjoyed home with us and play it together during out off-hours (such as lunchtime).. one of these pieces was the phantom of the opera suite which didn't get enough interest from our director nor the majority of the band, but we had enough people who did enjoy it to get a decent ensemble for our own enjoyment.

one of my biggest regrets is that we were never able to play erickson's toccata for band. for whatever reason, the sheet music was missing from the drawers and we couldn't afford to purchase it.

I use to play piano when I was in women's chorus, somewhat self taught. Clarinet in grammar school. And of course, vinyl turn tables when it was cool 1996-1999. I sold them in 2000 shortly after I graduated high school so I can have money for fall semester in college. We can all guess where that money went instead... :Raza: No, gas money for cruising from 9pm until 6am on Friday and Saturday nights.

i know for a fact there's more that haven't checked in. we might have enough people to get a 17-piece big band going!!

honestly, i wouldn't mind doing an online music collab. all we'd have to do is set our metronomes to the correct tempo and play away. of course, pieces with tempo changes may have to be recorded in sections and require a bit of mixing and editing... should be fun though...

Odd you say that. A few months back John and I wanted to do this, and also w/ vocals since I was in choir for church and school from 4-18years old.
