Window regulator alignment problems

I recently purchased a complete set of new regulators online. Installed the drivers side with only minor issues. The passenger side installed nicely but once we press the button to move the window it jumps drastically towards the front of the door leaving a finger width gap at the rear. During travel the window moves back into position crimping the vertical seal at the rear of the door. I tried adjusting the window forward, rearward, adjusting the front track, etc. The only thing this does is cause a binding in the window, stopping the motor. I took it to a bodyshop for adjustment today. They worked most of the day and finally said that they give up.
Anyone out there experience the same issues or have suggestions other than "fine tuning" the placement of the rails or glass.
What a headache.......

thanks

What car do you have?

Where did you buy the regulators?

Sorry, that may help, huh? Its a 1997 civic ex, 2 door. Bought the regulators from Auto Parts Warehouse.com. This was an ebay supplier.

Post a link to what you bought.

They say they're for his car. If you scroll all the way down it tells you.

I was having trouble getting the page to load.

Am I missing something? The information doesn't seem to make sense. For example, the 96-00 Civic DX has manual windows and the 96-00 Civic EX has power windows. Those regulators should be different.

i have tried this methods in a 92-95 civic 2door and 4door and i will be trying this in my 99 civic si probably this weekend.

try this method first and if it doesn't work i will post another dirty version to fix the problem by the weekend. i just have to take a few pix and update it i have done this in my 93 and 95 civic but i don't have pix for it. so i will do the dirty method for my 99 and update with pix.

First method.
remove the 4 bolts that attach the window to the window regulator (the scissor mechanism that moves the window up and down). The window at that point can be removed. I like to align the window by sliding it along the tracks manually all the way up, then all the way back down, keeping the window flush with the straight track along the side at all times. After sliding it up and down manually, wherever the window lands is the correct/aligned position. At this point reattach the 4 bolts and tighten the window down nice and solid.
