Holy s**t anf that's a big ass town house. I'd hate to be one of the houses in the middle lol.

I just updated my iTouch and added nearly my entire computer (which isn't much, couple thousand), sorted it all, made like a dozen new playlists... .Ugh that took a good hour and a half. But I've been meaning to ever since I got a new headunit that is USB/Aux capable. Now I can hear all my music loud and clear!

Gonna wash my hair and get ready in a couple hours and head out for several hours.

yeah, we're not the sidemost ones (those are 1 floor + basement ranch style townhouses), but at least we're not right one of the middle two, though the walls are super thick and we never hear the neighbors or anything... our unit is 1,942 sq·ft, 2 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, 2 floors + finished basement w/ storage room, 2 car garage, gas heat & stove, full-size washer & dryer... we pay out the ass for it ($1245 rent + $20 pet fee + $49 internet = $1314/mo) but it's not too bad between the three of us (bunny and i, plus our housemate jake). comes out to around $440/person each month, which is pretty good in our area for how much space we get. too bad this money isn't going towards a mortgage and actual equity, though. here's our floorplan:

2nd floor

We pay just about what you do. Wait, no..just added it up. $1403 total for townhouse/garage + pet fee, cable/internet, and electric.

My coverage for the townhouse is only $13.50/m; I combined it w/ my AAA auto. In MO there is a minimum of $25,000 coverage, but I bumped it up to $50,000 b/c my stuff is so nice, and to make sure the garage/car are covered. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure why I did that since I've got full coverage on the civic. LOL, oh well. It's still very cheap and I only have a $250 deductible if the house is demolished somehow.

I ended up re-arranging the house. I was sick of the furniture being the same and I finally figured it out to make it all work and not have my windows blocked.

I wish I could get a nice townhouse in the area I work or even currently live for that much... It's hard to find a decent 1 bedroom apartment for $1500 a month. Then add in ~$100 per car for parking a month(most places where I work charge for parking) and cable, electric, etc.. It'd be a minimum of $2000 a month for my gf and I. That's on the cheap side..

our townhouse doesn't come hot - electric usually runs around $80/mo and gas is around $80/mo in the winter and $20 in the summer. thanks for the info on your numbers kelly, it kinda helps put my coverage into perspective. i'm paying $230/yr on my renters insurance with only $20k personal property coverage, $300k in personal liability coverage and $25k mold liability (required in indiana). we do have both comprehensive and collision coverage on both the wrx and the mr2, though. we also don't subscribe to any cable television service. OTA digital channels + netflix = good enough for us.

when we do get a house it probably won't be as large as this. this townhouse is huge because it can actually accommodate over four tenants. when we get a house it'll likely be 3/4 the livable area of this place (or maybe smaller). our energy consumption costs are way too high right now imho.

the coastal states are very expensive when it comes to real estate, especially when compared to the midwest. however, you guys earn higher wages than us.

Our place doesn't include any utilities and is only 1500 sq feet including garage.

water, sewage, trash=$30ish
ameren=$110 in winter, $140ish in summer
cable/internet=$130
netflix=$15

While our place is brand new and gorgeous, we are paying for location. We're dead center of STL.

what's ameren? i'm guessing gas+electric provider? our building is 6 or 7 years old, so fairly new... but we're nowhere near the middle of town. in fact, we're right by the city limits. farmland starts half a mile south of us!

Yes, ameren is the provider here. Our place is all electric and I hate it. I miss having gas too cook with. Yea...I'm like 20 miles from 'farmland'.

here's a satellite image showing where i live in relation to the farmland lol.. that big black building with the big parking lot is a meijer (hypermarket) and those buildings just south of me are all apartments managed by the same landlord.

we used to live in an all-electric unit before. energy costs were sky high. i'm really happy to have a gas stove =) so much more control when cooking now.

^ LOLOLOL :rolf:.

I ended up getting a front lens cap for the lens I just got (bastard didn't give me one with the lens and shipped it without one. Thank God it had a UV filter on), stopped by Best Buy and ALMOST bought a GoPro HD Hero2, went to the mall and window shopped, then got a couple groceries.

I'm buying the motorsports one as well. But not for another month and a half at least. I want to take it with me to Watkins Glen :D. Might as well not buy something I don't plan on starting to use til April/May.

no "as well" needed in your post. i certainly don't have $300 to spend on a camera when i need to spend that on summer tires after the cold is gone. my neovas are pretty much bald... and i need to replace my brakes as well.... and pay for a wedding...
