necessary to remove bumper to install grill?

Hey everyone! Yesterday I got my shipment in the mail for my black housing headlights, fogs and mesh grill. I was going to wait for my HID's to come in before installing my headlights. So I planned on installing the grill for the time being. I looked at a couple threads/videos on installing it. a video I saw said you gotta remove the whole bumper in order to install the grill. But another video i viewed the guy simply popped the hood, unscrewed the bolts from the top of the grill and popped it out. I'm guessing if you don't remove the whole bumper you won't get the best results? or can installing the grill be that simple by not removing the bumper?

Thanks!

i;m not 100% sure on the 1999 and 2000 models but on the 1996-1998 models the grill is attached to the front bumper. the only thing u can get to from the top is those push on plastic tabs.

the bumper will probably take u 5 minutes to remove. it's not hard.

If it is the oem grill on the car as far as i know you have to remove the bumper to do it.
I know i had to remove my bumper but after you install the mesh grill or any aftermarket grill then it is only held by those things on the top so it can be removed that way oem cannot.
removing the bumper on a civic is super easy anyway so you should be good.

unless u follow my diy on this site. then u still have a grill attached to the bumper. and not a pos only attached by plastic clips ;)

thanks guys! yeah its the OEM grill I'll be removing. i'm just paranoid like crazy on removing the side bolts of my bumper because the plate that the bolt is screwed into to hold the bumper up is extremely rusted. it looks like a piece of burnt toast with a screw in it lol. i'm pretty sure i could snap it in half easily. thats how crusty it is :( I just hope it doesn't crumble or break into pieces when i unscrew the bolt :(

if it's already that rusted it probably secures your bumper as much as a piece of burnt toast would

seriously.. remove the bumper, fit everything correct, buy some new 10mm bolts. Use this as an oppurtunity to clean everything. Core support, bumper beam and back of the bumper. Nobody sees it but you'll know you did it right. We have enough rigged up chopped up projects of civic's. if i ever got another civic i would remove everything and replace all the bolts with new. Then again, I'd probably tear everyhing apart just like child's build.

yes its bolted to the bumper, when i switched mine i didnt bolt it back to the bumper.. it makes it alot easier to tear apart your front end
