Why wasn't it fully color matched? I don't understand why the mirrors, trim, and skirts were done but not the handles. I think I'm the only one that isn't feeling the car at all.

I kinda agree with you on that note Kelly. Especially cuz leaving the handles black is the most random thing I've seen. I could understand the handles and the trim or something. But Not feeling it at all? damn lol.

Where these bay shots at man, also nice clean up job, I say stick with the red and black.

Painted skirts and black lip I hate. Don't like the paint job but he said it's cheap so at least he knows. I also hate red. The wheels I don't like, at quick glance they look like painted HXs, and I think those wheels look good stock ONLY.

You all know I'm super picky. :what:

I agree on all of those. I just think it's a good start and he made it look pretty freaking good.

That he did.
Definitely making the most of what he has.

So it's picture time =)

This is what I've been doing the last few days:

This is how I bought it, beat up and leaking

Put it in the shop and started getting down to business

Discovered this :(

More pics before

I painted the valve cover and oil pan. Added new headers, threw a mini-breather on and redid a bunch of gaskets.

As it sits:

Not completely finished. I still need to run those blue wires to the coolant temp sensor, put the intake on and a few here and there's. I'll take it to work tomorrow and clean it up.

It looks like the one near the TB is coming from the IACV, in which case it would be a coolant hose, not a vacuum hose. The one that you are holding I can't see where it is coming from.

I want to go black so I don't have to paint the bay.

I put the hoses back the way they were and it still idles high(duh, didn't change anything don't ask me why I was surprised) until warm. There is still two hoses that I have no clue, one might be evap and the other could be from the power steering. Not sure, I'll post picture when I get home.

How high does it idle? My b16 idles cold at about 1500 when its kinda warm outside, and around 2000 when its freezing outside. It slowly drops as it warms up tho. Its normal I think.

Well cold, it shoots way up to 3k, warm start is around two and it idles around 1500 so definitely wayyy too high. I'm about to clean the iacv. Originally I thought it was the throttle cable so I adjusted everything after I polished the throttle body and that didn't solve it so it looks promising to clean the iacv.

Fixed the Idle issue, surprised me a little when I realized I had a FITV, I thought with the b1 head I would be running OBD2. The little threaded housing around the spring was all the way unscrewed. Took all of that apart and cleaned everything really good along with the iacv. I was in a hurry so I set the idle with the screw right around 500. This morning fired it up, ran at 700 cold. A little low, but definitely a lot better than 3K and a lot less noisy!

Its graduation day! Money is just shoveling in, digging every minute of it. My mom came out to visit me, she also informed me she hates my car =) So lets keep this build going! Now I've got some connections for parts/paint/etc... I want to take some some suggestions on what I should do next!

Anyways, Here's an update:
