Hello
I have a 1995 civic si 2 door coupe with a turbo JDM d15b. I know that these cars come stock with a d16 motor but i had bought the car as is, turbocharged already, so the guy had put a d15b JDM motor and was running a PR4 A61 ECU which is for a US 1992-1993 integra b18. i wanna swap out the jdm d15b and possibly get another one for i enjoyed that motor. so my question is: how is it compatible/why does it work with the d15b and b18 computer and what would be a good suggestion to which motor i should buy, should i buy the same one(JDM d15b) and install the turbo kit back up and tune? chip hondata s300

if its chipped with hondata you can put any basemap you would need on it so that shouldnt be a problem. the turbo kit would bolt up to any d series i would imagine. could always go with a y8 /z6 if you wanted to go the vtec route. i would recommend a retune though as a different motor will run differently. unless you have a wideband to verify that A/F is still safe

The b series ecu is probably chipped and tuned for the the d15b.

Why are you wanting to swap the motor? If its for more power then using another d 15b is pointless. Most d series turbo setups can be really modified to work on a b series engine with as little as a different exhaust manifold in some cases.

Hondata s300 is your best option for tuning but also one of the most expensive

if i where you i would keep your d15b and mini me that shyt and turbo boost 14psi be runnin a good low 13 on a good tune or faster only because d series are known to be fasrter with turbo becase the gear ratio is sooo looooonnnnggggg hahaha

Im changing the motor because the pistons were "knocking" against the cylinder walls, i pulled out the internals and the main bearings were shot as well so i figure i will just change the motor. i was happy with how much power the car had in the beginning so if i could just grab another jdm d15b v-tec and put it in im happy. im just trying to educate myself on if this is the right thing to do... im trying to save money. not necessarily trying to get crazy power just want it back up and running like it was so if i go out and buy a d15b jdm and throw it in then i should be fine right? and retune of course

hit up www.hmotorsonline.com and talk with steve. you could probably get another d15b for like 5-600 bucks that'll run nice.
