i have a 95 civic ex coupe.
it makes a clicking noise when turning on curves under power.
i know, i thought it was a cv joint too, but i changed them both out and noise is the same.
it seems to be worse turning to the left but it does it both directions.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

its a 1.6? 5 speed and has 200k on it

a bearing is makeing a growling noise and it goes in next week to get them both changed. i will ask the mechanic to look at tierods and ball joints. thanks for the replies.

well i had both wheel bearings changed and the noise is still there and getting worse. it must be in the tranny. the mechanic didn't know for sure because you can't really hear the noise by jacking up the car and putting it in gear. you can definitely hear it driving in the car but you can't tell exactly where its coming from. i don't know what else it could be:???:

i don't think it is the input shaft bearing because pushing in the clutch does not make any difference in the noise. it only does it when you are moving, i am thinking the output shaft bearing? but i don't really know. i found a used tranny for around 300$ so i figured i would try to change it out myself. i thought i would change the clutch out while i had it apart.

i changed engine oil today and was looking at how hard it was going to be to change it out. its a manual, how do you remove the shifter linkage?:???: one side had a bolt the other has a boot but i didn't really see how it comes apart

you can't change the output bearings without removing the tranny, can you?

i am focusing on the tranny because i don't now what else it would be. :???:
the mechanic said the tierods and balljoints were good.
i just changed the axles not too long ago. i was getting the clicking noise, that is why i changed the last one. i didn't make any difference and the howling noise just started recently and has gotten worse.
i drive 100 miles to work and back everyday and i need this car for the gas mileage, so we have got to figure this out.
strut bearing??

i bought the used tranny off ebay, ( 170816804673 ) i hope it a good one. i did this so i could drop it out and put the other right in without waiting to figure out what is the matter with mine since i need the car for work.

i will try to get a video uploaded tonight when i get home from work.

it took me all day and night but i got the new tranny in and just got back from a test drive. the noise and knocking sound is still there .

i guess i will just turn up the radio and wait for what ever it is to break. maybe it is the strut bearing

i did get a new clutch in, so hopefully it wasn't a total waste of time and money.

new wheel bearings, new brakes, clutch kit, transmission, newer axles,

whats left??? :(

Have you check the sway bar and links?
by the sound of the noises, i think it has to be coming from somthing turning.

driving home from work last night i was thinking maybe i got a bad axle?

when it started making the clicking/knocking noise, (turning to the left) i bought a rebuilt axle and replaced the left side. the sound did not change and has gotten worse, now making the noise turning both directions when giving it gas..

i had just replaced the right side a few months earlier when it was clicking, turning to the right,

i just bothers me that my car could break down, and i would really like to have peace of mind that it wont..
