i am doing a project with a set of steelies, and im trying to decide on what color to paint them that would look awesome with my 1999 black honda civic lx. colors ive thought of: dark gold, gunmetal (interior would match well with this), dark glossy purple, flat red and dark orange. im posting this to ask for opinions or suggestions. if you have painted your wheels and you have a black civic or black honda, would you send me pictures or a link to your ride so i can take a look and see if maybe i want to do something similar to my ride. thanks and happy crusing!

Steelies are never going to look awesome, just keep them black. You don't want to draw attention to your wheels if you don't have nice ones.

wow, you guys are alot of help. im on a minimal budget and thats why im starting out with steelies. so cut me some slack and maybe next time offer some helpful advice instead of just criticizing me for starting out with something that will look "fugly" as someone called it.

thanks, im starting to think that a flat dark gray or a gloss gunmetal color would work well and it would tie in the interior pretty well so that i wouldnt have to change much inside except for maybe the front seats.

I would only be doing something like this to clean up the steelies, or practice with painting. I bet you can find a nice set of GSR blades, or LS webs in the future to paint and have the car looking even better.

Just paint the steelies black just to clean them up. They'll be easier to sell/trade off. And painted steelies just look trashy, unless they're Diamonds.

Get some webs. Those look fine and they're coming down significantly in price. And go from there.

they are offering helpful advice weather you think so or not. painting your steelies anything other than blacl or a dark gray is not going to look as good as you think. if your on a budget go to your local junk yard or pull apart. old bmw wheels can be had there for cheap. i gound 14" bottle cap bmw wheels at pull apart. $14.83 a piece

Keep in mind everyone has their own taste in cars. When you ask for opinions, be prepared for some hate. If you find a post innappropriate, offensive, etc., feel free to report it and someone on the mod staff will take a look.

IMO - paint the steelies flat black and put the hub caps on. It looks the best. Colored steelies looks cheap and tacky. If you can find a good deal, Si wheels, Integra LS "webs", or GSR "blades/swirlies" would also be other suitable options.

Thanks for all the different ideas and suggestions. i have just been searching craigslist and trying to find something in my budget. maybe i will practice on the steelies and save up a little bit of cash and eventually look at some of these rims that you are all suggesting.
