I have a 1988 Civic Hatchback and have been told that the hood on a 1988 Civic Sedan will not fit and have different part numbers. Does anyone know if this is true, or can you swap the hood to and from these cars?

That's what I thought but I haven't seen an 88 Civic Sedan up close so I don't know if I can trust judgement on pictures alone.
I'm not a 4th gen guy so I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure they don't have the same front end. I think hatch, sedan and wagon were all unique.I would think it will due to both having the same front end

On a side note, does anyone have any 1988-1991 Honda Civic Hatchback old hoods for sale near North or South Dakota?

I was waiting for you to chime in on this one. I knew the sedan wouldn't work but didn't think about the CRX.The only hoods that will fit your '88 hatchback are from the 88-91 Civic hatchback or 88-91 Crx.
Sedan and wagon hoods will NOT fit.
