I have found that that information is not 100% accurate. I purchased a high mount stop light bulb based on that guide and it was an incorrect size.

I'm not sure what else is inaccurate but just letting people know to double check when they purchase a bulb.

Can you give more details? What bulb did it tell you to purchase? What is the correct bulb? For what car? Is it stock?

I purchased a 921 bulb (according to that guide) but the actual bulb is a 7440. 921 wouldn't slide into the socket at all, too small.

1999 Honda Civic 2DR.

EX. It didn't ask for trim on that page in the first post which is why I didn't post it :P. Trim shouldn't matter anyways ;).

Two separate automotive bulb supplier websites list the 921 bulb for the 99 Civic coupe and the 7440 bulb for all other 99 Civics. Here's the second site:

http://www.bulbs.com/Automotive_Lighting/AutomotiveResult.aspx?Year=1999&Make=HONDA&Model=CIVIC

Has your high mount wiring and bulb receptacle possibly been replaced?

Have you found any sites that list the 7440 bulb for the high mount of the 99 Civic coupe?

I'll check other internet automotive bulb suppliers to look for possible discrepancies.

I just asked because some bulb sites ask for the trim, though I agree that coupe versus sedan/hatch seems to be the key information.

Wiring and receptacle should all be stock. My brother and I are the only owners of the car and I would've known about something like that.

I have not found other sites listing the bulb as a 7440. I tried Google'ing some stuff back when I first trying to find out what bulb to buy and all the pages I found said 921. It wasn't until I received the bulb and posted in a different forum that someone told me it's a 7440. Doh!

Ah gotcha. Yeah I've seen that before too. :thumbs up

Can you contact this person and ask for the source of their information? If there is a link, I'll add it to this thread. I certainly don't want anyone getting bad information, though I suspect that the vast majority of the bulb information at the two links I posted is correct.

He was speaking from personal experience so there isn't anything really "reliable" to reference as a source.

I'll have to see if I can get some people I know with 96-00 Civic's to look for me and confirm. It's just weird a highly reputable company would have inaccurate information.

I'll check my 00 Civic EX coupe.

Actually, how would I know whether I have the 921 or 7440 bulb, John? They look similar in pictures.

921 is much smaller compared to the 7440. They look similar but the size is noticeably different. The 921 does not fit in a 7440 socket at all.

Both my 00 Civic EX coupe and 97 Civic DX sedan have 7440 bulbs in the high mount brake light. It appears that both bulb websites I posted incorrectly list the 921 bulb for the high mount brake light of 99-00 Civic coupes.

If anyone has a link to a site that lists the correct bulb for 99-00 Civic coupes, please post it.
