There are lots of Rit dye's that work good for carpets and fabrics alike. They can be bought at walmart.

Write up

Here is a write up on how to do them

This write up is for those of us whos carpets are not how they should be lol. Take note I did not do this write up and I got it from another site but I did to the DIY and the results are friggin amazing. This was the best 10 bucks I've ever spent for bang for your buck. I'll take pics of mine tomorrow and post them up

Steps:
Remove carpet
Get rit and 2 things of salt (big things, the cylinders)
Get a tub, a pretty big tub that you can wad up the carpet in.
Sit at the stove and slowly dissolve the rit and dye in almost boiling water. This takes the most time by far. I went through some 17 pots of almost boiling water.
Wad up the carpet in the dye. USE GLOVES and massage the carpet in the dye.

The material:
All material can be bought at walmart

5-8 bottles of rits black dye( 5 does the job write but I used 8 to make sure dammit lol)

32-35 gallon tub ( they call it tub but it just a garbage can)
2 canister of iodized salt. You know the one with the chick in the rain or whatever you can find

Procedure:

get your carpet

gather material

boil water and salt together until it gets really hot and but it the tub. Once the the tub gets about a 1/4 filled mix in all the dye and mix it with a stick or broom handle and put carpet in

Keep boiling water until tub is filled
Let it sit with NONE of the carpet in the air (all submerged) for 4 days outside.

Now, pull out the carpet and lay it flat on the driveway. Grab the garden hose and spray the carpet for as long as it takes until no dye comes out any more and it just water rinsing out

At this point you just let it dry and re-install. I tossed the floor mats in for 4 days after I did the carpet.

This. I did my mats with rit dye and they're going back to the original color after only 2 months of getting in and out
