So my ek has been losing oil recently and i think i know why but im not sure

Every month or so my oil drops from full to below half.
The car has 165000 miles on it.
I do race it every once in a while but im not sure if its normal for it to make a gross smell when i floor it. 0.o

What engine do you have? Engine clean? Any drips on the ground where you park it? Smoking from exhaust? Or you smell it from the engine bay? More info....

its a D16yZ i believe.
i smell it when driving it a little hard
no oil where i park or smoke from the exhaust
only thing is that the tranny looks oily but my mechanic says that shouldnt be the cause of the engine losing oil.

Your mechanic is making a bad assumption. Check to see if its leaking from the distributor o-ring or the vtec solenoid assuming you meant D16Y8 if its a Y7 you will not have one. Also check the valve cover really good.

As frodo said check under the distributor. (the thing coming out of your engine above your transmission that the 4 spark plug wires are coming out of. maybe clean off right below it and check back in a day or 2. Also to be sure your not dripping any you should throw a cardboard box or something under your car one day right after you get home from driving. If you have any mechanically inclined friends you can have them compression check it for you. Or you can do it yourself if you have a couple bucks to spend on a tester. Its just as simple as pulling out your spark plugs and trying to start the car with the tester in (not exactly that process but there are DIYs) and last but not least you could have a friend follow you onto the freeway and just floor it up to redline, have them watch for blue or at least blue tinted smoke coming out of your tailpipe.

If it burns oil when driving and not when parked isn't that the rear main seal, also since OP mentioned his tranny is oily.

Most seals (not to be confused with gaskets) don't leak much unless running. He would be dripping out the flywheel inspection plate if the main seal was leaking (more then likely)

I would get it checked but I have no money and I actually just put it up for sale. I dont have money and probably wont have money to get a swap any time soon.

Probably for the best if your burning it. If you have no money for repairs, no tools, and no experience changing valve stem seals can be a major pain. And if it's your rings your basically screwed lol

Well you may be burning a little oil and losing oil from a leak at the same time. Your mechanic is not very competent if he believes that the OIL leaking from somewhere onto the transmission has nothing to do with your OIL LOSS.

Could be valve cover gasket, dizzy o-ring, oil may even be leaking from the dipstick as I have had that happen to me before.
