how do i swap an ECU for a GSR motor?

At the moment this all just me doing research and looking into engine swaps. And ive been learning about all the stuff you need to do to swap an engine. I have been looking into a GSR motor and turbo. Now Im completely stuck with the whole ECU thing. now my question is that how would I look into ECUs more in dept. Do you purchase an ECU that would be for a GSR motor and a turbo or would I flash it or what? And could that just be installed into the existing system in a civic? Any information that any body would have would be appreciated. Just really curious and I want to know everything about it before I try and buy and install something I do not know about.

Well if you're going turbo you're going to have to go with an OBD1 ECU, so they can tune it. Most tuners won't deal with OBD2 due to all the emission controls.
P28 is the best one to run IMO; it's what I'm running with my GSR and it's what my buddies run and just have them mapped/tuned.

I seen that the P28 says its in 92-95 civics, is that true? and can it be swapped into a 6th gen civic with out a lot of modification? and as far as getting it tuned can i just get a flash tuner and tune it or will it need to be taken shop?

Unless your harness is OBD1 (which I don't think yours is, you should be OBD2.) you'll need an OB2-OB1 jumper harness for the ECU. But if you're planning to fully tune/turbo you will need to convert your harness to OB1 anrway. It's just a conversion plug in. Nothing crazy.
As far as tuning it goes, you will need to have it chipped so that it can be tuned. Honestly, I'd much rather have a reputable shop do that. It's only like $80 and less of a chance of messing it up.

so what would u recommend I would have to buy to complete the swap?

would i need the new ecu wiring harness and thats it. then just take it to a tuning shop and have them do the rest?
and do u think they will charge me a fortune to install and tune it?

Well if you are for sure going to turbo this, then get the OBD1 harness (if the GSR isn't OBD1 already). And call around to reputable shops, they're always different.

oh alright thanks. u defiantly helped me a lot with all this stuff but I still want to do a lot more research before I jump in and try to buy any new parts.
