That's not the shift linkage. Shift linkage rattle would NOT change with the speed of the car.

You do realize that this is impossible over the Internet right? To find where a sound is coming from you need to be hands on. All that is going to happen here is going to be guesses.

i have the same rattle from my 2000 civic. If i hold my shifter it stops. I tightened all my shifter linkage and it didn't do s**t. Wonder if engine vibration could travel throught the linkage? hmmm

check everything to do with the exhaust its prolly the most likley thing.
however this will be almost impossible for people to call over the internet.

i ment the shfiter not shift linkage. i tighten up that bolt.. shake the shifter no rattle. i did find 2 loose motor mount *the back one* but i tighten it up and thought that was the problem so i took it for a spin after still rattle....maybe something internal? however it sound like its coming from the shifter...
