Parting out recently acquired 83 camaro to buy another civic

I got into a wreck with my old civic, and sold it. I came across this highly modified race car. This 83 camaro has a chevy 4:11 rear end, a 383 stroker motor, ratchet shift transmission, and has 800 dollars worth of brand new rims and tires. This car was made for the drag strip. I already have the motor sold this high performance 383 stroker motor has an edelbrock 650 carb sitting on top of it. The owner was making it into a race car, for his 13 year old son, but their son decided to choke someone out at his school the other day so they were selling it. Major score.

This. It's built to go really freaking fast in a straight line. If you don't like that, then don't buy it. But don't buy a perfectly good, purpose built car, and tear it apart just to make a couple bucks.

why not turn a profit on a car your probably never going to use its his money and who cares what the guy who sold it to him thinks. obviously the op needs a daily driver and i don't think a drag car is going to work.

I agree with this. If someone has a drag car for sale I don't think they care if someone drives it into a wall, just as long as they pay what he's asking. So what if he wants to part something out? You'd be offended if someone hassled you about selling a car.

Nobody's saying he CAN'T do it, it's the concept. Somebody put a lot of hard work into that car, and he bought it with the intent to simply tear it apart for a couple bucks. I don't know about anyone else in here, but I like to do positive things to earn money, not tear apart someone's hard work.

You buy an EM1 with a tacky body kit, you leave it on bc someone put hard work into putting it on? What if someone offered you $100 for it? Its a win-win for both parties.

Taking a body kit off a car that you intend to KEEP and DRIVE is hardly comparable to parting out someone's hard work for profit. If he bought this Camaro, and decided that he wanted 4:11 gears instead of 3:73, that'd be a little different. He didn't buy it with the intention of keeping it, and change a couple small features. He bought it with the intention of tearing apart every last bit of someones hard work, just to make a couple bucks. That's disrespectful to the hard work put into the car by the previous owner. Again, nobody's saying that he CAN'T do it, we're just saying that it's disrespectful.
