now thats a different spot for sure! prepare for it to get super dusty and s***! i would just relocate the dang thing to the trunk/hatch area!
It would be cool to have it there, I feel like its more of a track setup though. I don't really want to put it in the trunk unless the interior is stripped. I just don't think it looks as good.

That would be something different...
It would indeed.

Plus, that hatch also doesn't have it's crash bar installed. The battery won't fit with it there, I checked haha. I really wouldn't want to take that out of a daily driver.

Did you ever flip you booster, if not I recommend it. If you unbolt the MC from the booster before removal, then no brake lines have to be touched. It's kind of a pain to get it in and out with the MC still there, attached to the brake lines, but its easier, IMO, than bleeding the whole system.

A bunch of the guys around here have it in the trunk and one guy layed down hardwood floor in his trunk and I find that looks good..

Yeah, I was thinking about it some and it might not look that bad. I was bored today, so I made a cardboard mock-up of an Odyssey PC680 and stuck it in the hatch. I don't think that looks too bad.

Hey,

I just picked up a 96 DX Hatch just like yours. I plan on doing the same swap as well. I will be making a build thread after I have some money saved up. I read through your whole build and it gave me a lot more inspiration, and I plan on following it for the rest of the time. You are doing a great job, and it is helping me decide some things about my hatch as well.

You could always get a battery cover (I swear I've seen one before. They have cutouts for the terminals) so it's not such an eyesore.

Also, beautiful car, clean and tasteful work here. It's pretty rad to see such a young dude SCHOOLING everyone. Just goes to show that with determination and good work ethic, you can have an amazing car.

Why would it be a pain? If done properly it can be just as convenient as being in the factory location especially with the use of firewall terminals.

Definitely get a battery box with a vent to the outside of the car. Batteries vent poisonous gases.

First result in Google...from wiki answers (just an fyi, not flamin):

Battery Out-gassing
Yes, vehicle batteries are usually of the lead-acid type, and these batteries give off hydrogen gas while they are either being discharged, or charged.
Hydrogen gas is a colorless, tasteless, and odorless gas, is highly flammable and when mixed in proper proportion with oxygen in the air, hydrogen can be explosive.
Smoking or any arc/spark within the hydrogen-oxygen gas envelope, or an internal spark inside the battery, can cause a massive explosion throwing sulphuric acid and disintegrated battery case plastic for some distance. This explosion of the battery out-gas can do very serious bodily harm, and has been reported to have resulted in deaths.
Therefore, it is critical that all possible safety precautions are followed when working with, on, or around vehicular batteries. Most modern auto batteries have decals on them listing the major hazards and recommended precautions

Awesome man! I'm glad to hear that I'm an inspiration. I will try to keep you guys updated with any progress. =)

Thanks man! I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so that helps when building a car...

Thanks for the offer. I would take you up on it, except that to mount it there I would have to remove my crash beam and I don't want to do that on my daily. If I ever decide to though, you'll be the first to know ;)

Why would it be a pain? If done properly it can be just as convenient as being in the factory location especially with the use of firewall terminals.
Yeah, if I relocate the battery, I'm going to have remote terminals mounted in the bay and a cut off switch mounted somewhere discreet, but accessible.

Definitely get a battery box with a vent to the outside of the car. Batteries vent poisonous gases.
Do drycell batteries vent poisonous gases too? I plan on getting the odyssey pc680 which is a drycell(i think means no acid in the container).

Drycell batteries don't emit gases.
