Hopefully within the next week I'll have my thread up and let you know. I plan on staying active in this thread so just let me know if you have any questions and I'll atleast try to help ;)
Thanks for the help. I'll be sure to let you know. Feel free to ask me questions too. Also, let me know when you build thread is up so I can check it out.

Drycell batteries don't emit gases.
That's what I though, but I wasn't sure.

Plus, that hatch also doesn't have it's crash bar installed. The battery won't fit with it there, I checked haha. I really wouldn't want to take that out of a daily driver.

Did you ever flip you booster, if not I recommend it. If you unbolt the MC from the booster before removal, then no brake lines have to be touched. It's kind of a pain to get it in and out with the MC still there, attached to the brake lines, but its easier, IMO, than bleeding the whole system.
awesome, i wasnt sure if there would be enough room. i guess i know what ill be doing soon lol

You could always get a battery cover (I swear I've seen one before. They have cutouts for the terminals) so it's not such an eyesore.

Also, beautiful car, clean and tasteful work here. It's pretty rad to see such a young dude SCHOOLING everyone. Just goes to show that with determination and good work ethic, you can have an amazing car.
thats what im running, $15 at walmart and its an all black box with opening for just the wires

Definitely get a battery box with a vent to the outside of the car. Batteries vent poisonous gases.
and then they made the magical dry cell. i love my yellow top, thing doesnt die ever, can mount it on its side if i want, its sealed, but comes with a price tag

Yeah, I definitely recommend flipping the brake booster. The main reason I'm looking into drycell is to save weight and space.

Alright guys, I need your help to make a tough decision. While I've been having all these issues with my car, I have done some serious thinking about the direction I want my build to go. My true dream for this car is to completely strip it down to the unibody, repaint it and rebuild the whole thing. As I write this, I have exactly 2 months until I leave for college. I can take a car, but at this point, I'm not sure if I would trust it to make the six hour drive without any issues. So the car would be sitting for months anyway. I am a perfectionist and when looking at the car, all I see are problems that need to be fixed. I really just want a fresh start. The following is a plan I made, but I don't know if I want to go for it yet...

-sell the swap and buy a bicycle or cheap car to get me to and from work
-begin stripping down the car and prepping it for paint
-save
-save
-save
-start rebuildng

I don't know if I want to do this or not. I will have to pay for college and the car. At this point though, I really can't enjoy my car with all the imperfections I see.

This is my inspiration:

Please, let me know what you think...

Yeah college is the first priority. If I were to do this, I would only be able to work on it on vacations.

Maybe I should wait till I see what college is like and how much cash I will need.

Cool, just an opinion about the plan you have, it think its great because i can relate since im in college too and its hard to save money, what i was gonna do is get a civic just for gas and only engine parts i would buy would be for maintenance, after i finish school i want to get serious and start building a car from scratch, that way i can have a good job and be able to buy legit parts, hope that helped in a way...

Yeah, that does help. I really want to do this now, but I don't have any money. :(

Some recent stuff I've done to the car. I got some energy suspension shifter bushings to hopefully take some of the play out of my shifter setup.

My homemade bushing press. I took a ~6" bolt and used the OEM washers that go on either side of the bushing. I spaced it with some sockets and washers, greased it up, and just tightened until it popped in. I was pretty proud of myself haha.

I also decided to repaint the valve cover during the down time. I am split between gloss black and gloss dark gray. Any opinions?

Lastly, the cam gears are on their way and should be here this week. Then I will hopefully be able to get it in time.
