If that's acceptable ambition these days, we're screwed...
If you make enough money to sustain your desired lifestyle, and you're doing something that makes you happy, how is that not ambition?

Ambition is not something that has already been attained, ambition is some type of goal that you're working towards. Now that we have that out of the way, if someone's ambition is to brew their own beer, and smoke weed...then that's lack of ambition. There's no real accomplishment in that.
Fùckin minitrucker...
I approve of what you did there.

What someone considers an accomplishment is subjective IMO. If someone wants to grow and smoke weed their whole life and succeeds at doing it, they are accomplishing something.

IMO, just because you don't have a decent job, join the military, establish a family, buy a house...basically do the "norm" of what society thinks the norm is....doesn't mean you have no ambition.

I did not finish college, do not intend to anytime soon, moved back home with my parents, have a job at a grocery store... Does that mean I have no ambition?

just got back from running errands
personally i believe that if what you are doing makes you happy compltly then thats ambition because you did whatever you had to do to do what makes you happy. if growing weed makes you happy then the guy actually probably put alot of work and time into the set up to do it hence ambition; however that should not be your life goal and i think what vic is saying is ambition needs to the strving towards a more acceptable goal or at least that what i got out of it. everyone sees success and goals differetly though so there really is no wrong answer.

I think you're reading too much into what I'm saying, and I also may not have properly phrased what I wanted to say. I will however go back to my original point that started the discussion, and say that if someones desire to grow weed is what we all call ambition these days, we're screwed. I don't think that's an unfair assessment.

John, I don't know you well enough to determine whether you have ambition or not. But I think you're also slightly misunderstanding what ambition is. Ambition doesn't make someone a good person, and lack of ambition doesn't make someone a bad person. Ambition is just a desire to achieve more than what you already have. If your desire in life was to live with your parents, and work at a (well renowned) grocery store, then you've REACHED your goal. If you have a desire to do more than that, such as continue school at a later point in your life, move back out, eventually work your way into arts and entertainment (because I remember you used to want to do that), then you have ambition. Hell, you've talked about how you have a hard work ethic, which tells me that you aspire to move up the chain at your current job, which is ambition. Again, neither ambition or lack of ambition effects who someone is as a person, it's simply a desire that THEY have. So yes, technically, someone who has a desire to develop a weed garden and brew beer for the rest of their life does have ambition if they haven't attained that goal already...but like I said, I think we're all screwed if that's what everyone considers "ambition".

And trust me John, there's a very big difference between you and Steve.

That's probably what I was reading into when I made my statement.

True that. I will definitely agree with that lol.
