cant find nothing on google...

is the alarm system on my 2000 civic EX at all connected to my radio?? anyone?? please?

bump
Alarms/keyless entry were an option for Civics. If that's the case, ask the previous owner if they have the original FOB for it. Otherwise, that blinking light your seeing is the anti-theft device on the actual CD player, not the car. If it doesn't have an alarm, ditch the stereo, and go with an aftermarket. I have an Alpine unit (don't remember the exact model number) that has iPod and Aux support, as well as Bluetooth. I spent like $150 on it.

by FOB do u mean the remote?

cuz he gave me two remotes, and they both have panic buttons on them..

does your alpine unit have an alarm on it? or do u have a seperate one?

Damn fellas.. im in some deep doo doo right now :(

i went to the beach today.. drove for total of 170 miles, then on the way back ..(30 mins from my house) I shifted to 5th gear from coasting on neutral and my engine just shut off.. I had to pull over when my car was loosing speed it was pretty rough.

Does anybody know what the problem could be? We tried jumpstarting it and it just didnt work. Now it doesnt even crank when I turn the ignition...

alternator? ignition coil? distributor perhaps? can anyone help me out please?

it cranks a little and then just stops after i try 3 times... like the battery is dead or something
Check your timing (cam and dizzy), timing belt, and alternator. Fuel pump could also be a problem, seeing as it shut off while you were driving. Sounds like it's intermittently going out or something.

I read on some other boards that their civic just dies then turns back on after a couple tries... mine doesnt even crank any more..

AN UPDATE on my 2000 honda civic ex coupe...

I just bought and installed this remanufactured distributor from advanced autoparts ... http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product__18630260-P_218_R|GRPTUNEAMS____#

It didnt come with a rotor or cap so i just used the one from the old distributor..and well...

the car starts!!!! but does not pick up that well.. im wondering if I installed it wrong or if it needs to be broken in. Is there any particular way I should drive it since it has JUST been installed? Also I plan on purchasing new fuel injectors and injector wires..

On another note. my mechanic said I have about 7-8 quarts of oil in my motor and that I should drain some of it out cuz I have too much. I wanted to do this after i installed the distributor but I got tired and decided to save that for tommarow...

What happens if i drive with too much oil?

Why do you have that much oil in there? That's like double the amount. Its kind of hard getting just the injector wires since they are part of the whole harness. Did you put the distributor back in the right spot? Are the plug wires in the correct firing order?

Im not quite sure why there is that much oil.. when I bought the car I decided to change the oil.. only 2 quarts came out.. so i put 5 in.. even though the car only takes about 4.5.. but it may have been because i had the car on a ramp so it was tilted and not all of the oil came out. either way Im going to drain it and see whats going on.

As for the wires I plan on getting this .. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_Ignition-Wire-Set-NGK_15500245-P_197_R|GRPTUNEAMS_____

And yes i believe everything else is in the right spot because i fit in the distributor and never unplugged the original wires from the injectors nor the distributor cap... i

i may just buy a brand new distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, and wires today... but definetely after i get rid of some of that oil.
