check the underbody of the car (mainly pay attention to the areas around the drain plug and the oil filter), and check the pavement underneath your car to see if there are any signs of an oil leak.

check all connections around the fuel filter for any signs of a fuel leak

what happened was the auto shop forgot to screw the engine oil cap back on after the oil change... the oil spilled everywhere under the hood and thers only a little bit of oil left in the engine.

is this a serious problem? what shud i do?

Thats why I only change my own oil! I have heard way to many horror storys from people getting oil changes. Its sad that shops screw up simple tasks like oil changes. If people would takes two seconds and double check there work the issues would be caught! I would call the shop and tell them what happened hopefully no harm was done to engine they owe you cleanup and fresh oil change plus money back to say the least!

Assuming oil sprayed all over the place, you've got a pretty decent mess, and likely have oil all over between the engine and the firewall, over the wiring harness, in and around the alternator. What will happen over time is that the oily surfaces will cling to dust and dirt and form a nasty crust over everything, making future maintenance harder and filthier. If it were my car, I'd probably have the engine bay cleaned, send the shop that did the oil change the bill, and then take 'em to small claims court when they refuse to pay up.

^^ yes! because when your car enters that garage they are lyable for anything that breaks or does not get repaired. as stating that if they give you the BS speel of "your car is not in our garage so its not our fault" type of deal, false dont let them f you over, they had a specific job to do and they did not put back on one of the projects they are being paid to do... then they should be billed for the repairs. plain and simple. not trying to be a d**k but do your own oil changes. that way you know its being done right and enough oil and hell even your oil plug is on. i dont trust garages enough for that, they rip people off too easy. like my buddys head gasket went out, took it too a local garage and they said $800 to fix it.... wtf people sickin me.

Ha this happened to a buddy's sister. She blew her engine because of it and the shop refused to pay for it. Took them to court and they still didn't have to pay. Don't get your hopes up, best bet is going in there and kindly asking them to take care of it.

Lol. I really doubt that much oil came out the oil fill hole. I would bet good money on it being less than a 1/2 of a quart and even that would be a huge stretch.

Yeah not that much oil is in the head. That's why when you take off the valve cover there isn't oil dripping off the valve cover
