ok so I have a d15 non vtec. slow af. aiside from doing a all motor b series swap. I've gathered on the web about doing a mini me swap. I can't find a lot of info tho on the swap, I'm just wondering if it's not even worth it power wise. ??I just don't know a lot about the Sohc. being a d15 can i use d16 pistons for a FI build??? just wondering if anyone had any insight on this,

Save your cash, it's a waste of time and money. Either go full d16 and boost, or just save fora b swap. Look at it this way, A D16z6 makes ~25 more hp then a d15b7 (and its still slow) so just swapping over the head won't give you that 25hp since the d16 also has an extra liter to get there. Waste of time and money and then you also have to buy new a new timing belt and head gasket etc. Just save your cash

mini me swap is not worth it
if you set on boosting the d15 though then i would defintly mini me it first, but its only worth it IMO if your going to boost it
I have never messed with one, but i believe certain parts make a full d15 turbo build pretty complicated to do. I think its the aftermarket rods that you either cant get at all hard to find or something.
And honestly for the price of a used d16 motor i would get one sit it on a stand build it to you liking so you still have the car as a dd if nessary since the d15 will still be in it then swap it in.
You could either just rebuild it to oem specs and put it in have more power than the d15 its cheap it would be new, but it would also be slow
you could also leave the d16 on the stand slightly build or build the s**t out of it for boost piece together a turbo kit have everything ready then swap it in.

thanks for the respone. yea im probably gonna just build an all motor b series then, sounds like its gonna cost me just as much for a boosted mini me, so i think the best plan is indeed the b series, thanks for the help guys!

gsr or nothin? maybe a b20v?? why you say that?
b16 has almost the same torque as a d16y8. sure, a b16 will give you about 160 hp, but that won't mean much when you're only putting down 111 lb-ft. go with a b18 or b20 and you will be glad you did. theres no replacement for displacement! a 99-00 B20 engine will provide you just as much power as a b16, with about 15 more lb-ft. win

Im sorry but i have a b16 and i enjoy it every day
im sure the b16 is still fun. the thing that i don't like is that a b16 costs considerably more than a b20, im assuming the reason for this is mostly because of the demand. i guess i just don't see the point in paying more money for less torque.

I kinda disagree. you could always buy a d16z6 cheap do the mini me and run that for awhile. build up the z6 for a n/a instead of boosted and run 13's in the quarter. that's pretty quick for a civic.

His is coming from a person who owns a gsr , ls , and a built b16 it's pretty much what your long terms plans are and budget. If u wantvthe chcheapest possible b swap it would be a b20 considering there's so many of them. A b16 all motor is a waste of time likewise u won't enjoy the torque it puts out. Me personally I have a built b16 with a 5858 pte turbo and that makes all the torque I need lol. B20 with a b16 tranny and stage 3 clutch is just awesome , then if u want more slap a vtec hread on and have some fun

by the time you spend the money on a d16 and do a mini-me, you could have a b series and still have more power and torque lol
