those are SPARK PLUG wires not injector wires, check the timing as well
thanks for the heads up.. I never knew they were two different things..

The timing belt looks good as far as i'm concerned.. but... what do i look for exactly? oh and fyi the previous owner had his timing belt changed at 70,000!!!! i got all of his maintainence records

How would i know if i put it in wrong. im almost certain that i did it right. i put it in exactly how i took it out. (no homo)

should i try to reinstall it?
perhaps i put the rotor in backwards?

if it was OEM it can only go in one way, and you normally score the top of it and replace it in the same position, but with a aftermarket it could be a number of things and I am not sure if the inside of distributor is keyed. Best to get a timing light and go off that.

UPDATE:

Called up my mechanic he said to loosen the distributor mount and turn it just a little bit until i hear the rpm go up. (doing this while the car is on)

So I will try this out in a few hours.. hopefully it works out.. i did research on it and its called advancing and retarding the distributor..

s**t just gets worse..

the bolts on the distributor mount are starting to strip.. i let my little brother tighten them last night and he went OC on them and now my socket wrench slips when i try to unscrew..

can somebody help me out with this problem please

Take it somewhere and have them fix it because you are making things far worse. You shouldn't just guess which way to move it and you will have the stripping issue with non Oem parts

^ well im assuming since the distributor was turned all the way retarded... i advanced it and turned it towards me..

after getting the bolts loosened with a new wrench.. everything worked out

my car is running and acceleration is better than ever before. i only hope that i didnt advance it too much because ive heard that this could increase the chances of it to ping.. but we shall see how it works out during my daily commute to work.

car is back to 100% now after i pay for the tow bills and distributor i can move on to bigger things with my civic.

Thanks for all the help guys, im really feeling the love on this honda civic forum

UPDATE:

My car was having a hard time starting for the last 3 days... i would turn the key for about 7 seconds and keep cranking it until the car started.. i figure this has to be a battery problem since the battery has been in the car for 3.5 years..

i replaced it and got a brand new battery...

After about driving it for 50 miles (on the new battery).. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT comes on!!

i dont know what to do now.. hopefully advanced auto can let me know whats wrong with it.. i still have to buy fuel injectors, fuel filter and spark plug wires...

Does anyone know what could cause this? i clicked the gas tank cap some more, so im hoping it will go away soon but im not so sure about that..

CLIFF NOTES:

-Got a used 2000 civic.. @133k
-It is now at about 134,600k.. and the check engine light is on
- Since getting the car I have changed: oil, oil filter, distributor, clutch fluid, coolant, brake fluid, battery,
-Still need to change: spark plugs/wires, fuel filter, transmission fluid
-What i want to do with my civic: fixed the dent and bumper, change front bumper, change exhaust/muffler, spoiler, rims and spoiler, paint job.

what code is it throwing?
just got it checked.. i got a P0420 code..

any fixes for this?? i checked online said something Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)

.. im thinking this would be the perfect time to change my entire exhaust system.. catalytic converter, muffler etc...

but will changing this get rid of the light? what should i do?
