i'm not 100% sure but i think it would be best to upgrade your whole valvetrain if you upgrade your cams

The stock cam gears are the same, so no worries. Valvetrain wise, since you have an ek4 you should just upgrade you're exhaust side valve springs. The ek4 has dual valve springs on the intake side only.

some one said to me there is no point puttin them in with out gettin it mapped? is this true or does he no nothing, because a map on a n/a is pointless ur only get like 6 hp if your lucky

If buy mapped you mean a new basemap yeah it's important but your better off getting it fully tuned. You're getting cams that make more use of higher revs and will shift your power band upwards, so without a tune your vtec crossover point will be incorrectly set and you won't get the most out of the cams. I would start with bolt ons (intake, header, exhaust if you ever actually planned on upgrading this stuff that is) then put the cams on last and head straight to the tuners after that.

in my opinion, it would be worth it only if you are getting the cams for a good price. They aren't huge horsepower adders, but they do make a good difference in power (before and after tuning). You should always tune your car when adding modifications to get the most out of any setup. Peak horsepower numbers shouldn't be the main focus when judging increases on power through tuning. The overal horsepower and torque curve make the difference. You could gain a total of 5whp as a peak number but have tons of more midrange or a large increase in torque somewhere in the powerband depending on mods and the tune.
