Ebay hid kits are hit our miss. I have one that is over 5 years old and no problem. I bought another one for my ek and I got a bad ballast. But that can happen to any one. I have the same kit and I have had no problems. So the choice is yours.

LOL

Personally, I always recommend people NOT to use an HID kit with stock headlights. Go here to read why: http://www.clubcivic.com/board/showthread.php?t=208090. It's dangerous and (IMO) pointless. Why use HID's if you're not getting the full benefits?

I would recommend retrofitting projectors into your headlights. After that, you can use a cheap kit like a DDM tuning kit. I had one for many months before I switched over to a better setup. No, you don't need a relay harness, but I would highly recommend one. And no, I do not recommend eBay projector headlights. They're tacky and the projectors themselves suck.

What kit is good? How will this work in a halogen housing? Will it be bright still?

Why not ? Pros? Cons?
You want pros and cons

Pros- there are none
Cons- horrible light pattern on the ground, blind every oncoming car with glare.

Do it right or don't do it, I recommend theretrofitsource.com for the projector and hid kit parts, if you can't do it you can have a installer do it for you. Also don't get 10k hids, the more color the less light output. 4500-5000k is about the max light output you will get, only blue you will see is from the projector cutoff line.

For the price, eBay is your best option. Doesn't work? send them back, or buy another set. I would personally never spend so much money on a set if HID's. I have done plenty of research and understand the glare that is produced when putting HID on stock headlights instead of "retro fitting" them for proper lighting. I think it's way too expensive for something that majority of people wouldn't even know about. Plus my car is pretty low so my headlights aim at the ground basically, not necessarily blinding many people.

Thread is from 2012 ;)

PS for everyone... don't put HID's in halogens. If retrofits are too expensive, well, stick to halogen bulbs.

I was that guy once, though. I had HIDs in halogens back when I was 18 or so. Won't do it again. Too much light scatter. Light output sucked compared to my retrofit.. which cost me $170 and a few hours of my time.
