Exhaust manifold question..

First time post, so please be gentle.

I have an 98' Civic EX auto, it is my daily driver also known as "Porsche support vehicle". I have found a crack in the exhaust manifold and trying to patch it with thermosteel, so far so good.

The question is would an OE replacement be better or switch to a header? I don't race, but do get a little spirited every now and then. I am not planning on any engine mods if that has any bearing.

What would be the benefits and cons of either? Input and feedback is appreciated.

Thank you.

I/H/E or Intake/Headers/Exhaust bolt-ons don't do much for little engines like on Civic's. You won't notice many if any gains at all but sound. I/H/E are basically just attention-grabbers and sound makers for Civics.... plus you're automatic and i'm assuming stock Y8.

The only benefits if you get a quality header would be the sound. Don't go ebay though, ebay headers are known to crack quickly and are absolute s**t. Also, if i'm right you'll need to weld in a catalytic converter and extend the o2 sensor wire if you get a header to pass those 'tests'. We don't have those tests where we live so I don't know the details.

No. His Y8 does not have the Y7 (DX/LX/CX etc etc) exhaust manifold so this swap would not be necessary.

OP:

Pros
Looks nice
Sounds better
Maybe about 1-3 hp gain

Cons
Maybe about 1-3hp gain
Possible fitment issues

Price all depends on quality so I didn't mention that ;)
