looks good man. Where are you going to school at?
The prop valve in your civic dx hatch is the same as the SI one, dont change it, trust me on this, same part #I ended up not getting the D16Y8 head in favor of something much better.
EM1 front lower control arms and sway bar(same parts as the CTR)
I bought them for $175 from a guy who just finished a K-swap on his EM1 and had to swap to an EG front subframe. Needless to say, this is a great deal. They are a little rusty, but I started to sand them down and all of it is on the surface. With some fresh paint, the parts will look brand new.
Also, the guy I bought them from is a mechanic at the local Honda dealer, so he was super helpful and included a (Honda Genuine Parts)box with all the necessary mounting hardware including: end-links in really good condition, d-brackets, front strut forks(the EM1/CTR front lower control arms are thicker because they are a stamped piece, rather than a two-piece unit), and various other nuts and bolts.
I'm going to wait to install it until I have the CTR rear sway bar and ASR subframe brace, because I don't want to have crazy understeer.
I will be able to work on these parts after school over the winter. My goal for this winter is to collect all the suspension/brake parts I want and take a few days off this spring to install them.
Parts to buy:
CTR rear sway w/ end links
ASR rear subframe brace
EX/Si front steering knuckles
EX/Si or GS-R front calipers
Si prop valve
Si or GS-R brake booster and MC
maybe even some new coilovers(Progress Series II)
OK cool, I was worried about having hotspots.
What type of straight edge do you recommend I use. I don't have a machinist's level or something comparable.
Is that how you did you cluster? Can you just plug the bulb into the OEM socket?
Thanks fellas! Wait no longer.
Well it has been quite some time. I've been extremely busy recently.
I had orientation at college.
Got home to a bunch of new parts.
I came across a deal I couldn't pass up on some brand new Hasports.
The inserts were 88a, a little too stiff for a daily. So I ordered some 62a inserts and with that included, I'm still way under the price of brand new Hasports.
My engine bay looks like this more frequently then it looks complete...
Clean block...
Clean head...
And that brings us to now. Tomorrow, I will be installing the ARP head studs.
Two questions for anyone who has installed these in the past:
1) I'm assuming the end with more threads goes into the block?
2) Did you chase the threads before torquing them down?
That's all for now folks. Maybe some more tomorrow.
Thanks man! I'm going to Virginia Tech to study engineering.looks good man. Where are you going to school at?
Thanks dude, I'm really happy with how the tuck turned out. Also glad to be out of high school hahaGood job on the tuck! Grats on the graduating broseff Good progress
Thanks man. I had done some more research after that post and realized that haha. The prop valve in your civic dx hatch is the same as the SI one, dont change it, trust me on this, same part #
Glad it entertained you! When I did the wrinkle red, it didn't wrinkle right in all the places and I was getting tired of it so I just stripped it and repainted it. More on the block below.Spent 2 hrs on your thread, nice job, but I must say like one other says to get the block checked, get someone over there that can tell you if its f***ed up, I hope not after all your work, Why did you paint your red valve cover black, seemed to miss that in the thread. Anyhow, check the block!!! if it is, then just send that b**** to golden eagle and have them deck that b**** and hone it!!!!! The you might as well put some nice 11:5:1 - 12:1 pistons and some eagle rods and have a brand spankin new motor!!!!
Yeah, I love the mounts. Virginia TechNice Mounts, where you going to school at? Somewhere back east obviously, I graduated from Arizona State !!! Devils!!!
Haha a jet powered Civic would be nice, I just feel like that would ruin my ability to daily it...This is exactly what you have to do... Get rid of that engine and throw in a f-16 motor in that beast
Oh and upgrade your brakes after you do that

Haha I wish. I just don't have that kinda cash. Plus I just bought those sick Hasports. I was thinking about it at work today and probably the most economical and efficient option at the moment is to simply rebuild the B16 block. I'm going to call the machine shop tomorrow to figure out cost.Test your might...
Yeah I had thought about that in the past, but I know I wouldn't be able to just get the bare minimum to get the swap done. I would end up with K-pro and probably some other parts which would bump the price to around 7-7.5k. I'll just stick with a nice B for now.If you end up spending around 5k or a little more in total, it could've been k swapped. The price of a k is masked by all the fancy bits and pieces you can buy that aren't really necessary but make the swap easy.
But anyway, beef up that lil block!
Haha I try...Ballin on a budget!

I think we should keep it strictly roma red hatches. There is you with the boosted single cam, me with the B-series and CHILD with the K-swap. What more do you need haha.I have come to interrupt your build thread on purposes to make a cc roma red ek group XD we may have to expand our color for equal opportunity purposes...
I wish I could help with the block build but my knowledge only goes so far without experience lol

It's all good about the block man. I don't know what I'm doing yet either...
