Hello. I purchased a 1988 CRX oval track race car this year. I am getting ready to tear down the engine and rebuild it this fall/winter, but I'm having engine/head identification issues. The block is stamped B16A but there is NOT a VTEC stamp on the head. It looks like a DOHC D16 head. Could this be the case? I can not find this combination ANYWHERE on the net. PLEASE HELP!!! I know it is not the original engine as it has been swapped and the motor mounts are different. This car has been raced quite a bit, so a good chunk of the parts are NOT from a CRX, suspension components etc.

Well if it is a b16 block it IS a DOHC head. Do u hear vtec kick in? If so then it's likely a stock b16 head. If not u either have an ls/b20 head or the incorrect ecu for the engine.
