I replaced my dist cap and rotor yesterday, started car turned on fine. Turned it off, went inside for an hour, came back out. It started up and I drove off.

About 5 min of driving in stop and go traffic it stalled and wouldn't start It cranked fine, even the first attempt it sounded like it wanted to start then every attempt after nothing, just strong cranking.

Only thing that comes to mind is when I was replacing the cap,
1. The ignition coil spring had some corrosion on it which I lightly scraped off but maybe not enough?
2. I forgot to pull fuse for ignition as I turned key slightly to expose rotor screw

If it's 2 and that fried the coil or igniter wouldn't it have not started/drove at all?

Any help would be appreciated. I'm scratching my head as I've tuned this car up many times before with no problems.

What was the reason you changed the cap and rotor?

Just routine maintanence. I give it a tune up every year or two.
