Gas mileage

Hey !

I have a 99 civic siR w/ b16a2..I kept track of my km's when i filled up last and im at about a quarter tank maybe less and its at 271KM's. I know it isnt gonna be much over 300km's when its empty. Shouldn't i be getting around 400Km's per tank?

How many Kilometers/Miles does everyone get with there 99 civics?

I have an auto and I average 35-40 miles a gallon.

There's a very accurate method for measuring your gas mileage, rather than trying to use the incredibly innacurate gas gauge.

Fill up the tank, and reset the trip odometer
Drive a few hundred kilometers
Fill up again
Divide the mileage on your odometer by the gallons/liters you pumped to get back to a full tank

A b16 civic should get at least 22-25 Mi/Gal urban driving, and 25-30 highway

Okay, will do. What can I do to get a better gas mileage?

-Shift at a lower rpm, like 2-3k
-Don't floor the gas when accelerating
-Maintain your speed
-Properly inflated tires
-Defensive driving

prolly more but that's a few

Yeah I shift around 3-3500k. and What about new parts though? like fuel filter, oil filter, fuel injectors?

Tune up of course, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air filter, fuel filter. Make sure ignition timing is set properly. Also, running seafoam or lucas injector cleaner isn't a bad idea.

Tune up everything related to air/fuel/ignition. Remove excess cargo. Check your tire alignment for factory specs. Ask your girlfriend to go on a diet (best case scenario, she gets offended and dumps you and you dump 160lbs of lard). Etc, etc.

Ok, sounds good. Gonna have to do a tune up soon. Im gonna remove my sparetire and jack to, that will take some weight off the back end since I have 2 12" subs too

On my 2000 SI I'm getting about 26mpg. I fill up my tank and it lasts me 250miles

You will regret not having a spare and jack when you need it. Just try fitting in some type of small rug/carpet or thick old jacket or something to keep it from hitting the metal. Better safe than sorry, of course.

I get around 350 to 375 a tank, but I usually shift at 2,000 to 2,500 rpms around the city. I'll cruise highway at 3,200 rpms at 65mph.g

Lol, I cant shift at like 2500rpm, thats way to early for me. I shift at around 3000-3500

I have a z6 sohc and i shift out off all my gears at 3000 and when in 5th if i stay around 2800 i can go 100 miles on 2 and a half gallons. Im a long distance daily driver so i have my gas cost budgeted to the penny almost. So a bit more than 30 miles to the gallon
