I get 25-30 MPG on my d16y8 and premium is at 3.89.

I only pump premium/91 octane Chevron gas in my '96 DX sedan. I've noticed that I always average at least an extra 20-30 miles per tank (~350-400 miles/tank) than when using 87 octane (~320-380 miles/tank). That extra $1 or $2 at fill up is worth the extra overall miles I get. Also, the car just seems to run smoother.

I usually shift around 3k and coast to red lights, stop signs, and traffic. With my 100HP motor, I'd rather see how many MPG I can squeeze out of my car than how many cars I'm not faster than. =)

I average out at a hair under 30mpg on my '99 EX Coupe. Almost all city driving and bone stock motor with oversized tires(195/65R14). With proper tire sizes, I was getting a very easy 40-41mpg highway not even trying.

Cheapest regular around me is $3.92 right now :( I use premium for my '91 Si and that's f'ing $4.39:evil: I'm just glad I only use up about 3 gallons of it a weekend, if that...

I have an AEM V2 Intake, DC Headers, and a Greddy exhaust. I get 250miles a tank but I'm not really driving conservatively. I tend to shift at 3 or 4k on the norm but I like to run it with people I see and I like hearing VTEC pop so I do it often.

Unless you have a swapped high-compression motor, you are wasting money. High octane gas is less prone to detonation under higher pressures than regular octane. It actually burns less effeciently than regular because of those properties.

Calculate your mileage using the above posted method with premium, then again with regular, and report back. I bet you'll see the difference and it won't be the result you are expecting.

That's what I said and have already done - I get more miles per tank/fill-up when I use 91 octane instead of 87 octane.
And it only costs an extra $1-$1.50 per fill-up to use higher octane gas.
I don't mind that extra $1 if I know my car will run more efficiently, smoother and the engine stays cleaner.

Then your engine defies the laws of physics.

Higher octane is not cleaner either. If anything, it burns less completely leaving behind carbon deposits.
