my Recaro baby seat is front and rear facing. The seat was being taken out. Don't worry, i'm not dumb enough to hurt or risk hurting my son.
I considered that, but they've been targeted recently and i'm a little tired of living in panic. I don't know though. I kept tossing around ideas of using a hated chassis before I got this hatch, so I may go that route.

Transferring everything over isn't enough. You do realize how close to mint this thing was when i bought it. It simply needed some cleaning and replacing of a few oem clips and minor pieces. Look at the vast majority of 96-00 civics that are second hand...they are usually destroyed.
The high theft rate isn't comfortable dealing with either.
Im basically preparing myself for a big part out. I have tons of little things in great condition that I can let go of to fund something new. The hatch section can't even be opened right now, so its a good amount of metal work to re-shape that or cut out and weld in a new rear section so im sure the insurance company isn't going to want to pay to actually fix this thing.

Yea your hatch was mint. If you can't fix it just part it and wait til you find something that is in as good a shape as the hatch. The money it would cost to get a beat hatch in the condition yours was stock when you got it is enough to make me wait or go through the trouble of fixing it.

I don't like to just clean things, i like to replace things with new pieces. If i bought another old car, every bad part would be replaced, and it would definitely run my costs way up. So its not cost effective with my way of modding.
whatever i jump into will definitely make use of the k24 except one car. I may get into a acura TL but anything else will K swappable.
