Hey Everyone,
I recently bought a 1998 Civic EX Sedan 5-spd that came with a Jackson Racing Supercharger in it. I have the original receipt and it looks like the original owner had it installed professionally in 1998 from what I can tell.
Got this car in the beginning of October and put new front brakes and a CV shaft on it. The supercharger belt was squealing pretty badly, so I got that replaced. Then I noticed this grinding noise on the tranny that went along with the engine as you accelerated.
Got it looked at by a tranny specialist and they told me that all the bearings in my tranny are shot, so I either need a new one, or need to have mine rebuilt.
I posted this car on CL about a week ago and some guy offered to take my supercharger and swap it with stock parts, but he said I could only get between $600-$1000 for my charger. Although, the original receipt says it was worth $2,800 w/install.
I'm trying to weigh my options here. Any advice? What would you guys do? I could take that guy up on his offer, rebuild the tranny and keep the charger, or try to find a decent used tranny, which would be cheaper.
If I sell it, I want to get at least $3000 for it, since that's what I paid. Car only has 104,000 miles on it, body in great condition.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
