Manual windows are hard to roll up...

First of all I'm not a whole expert in cars or anything. You can say my first car is the civic I have right now. Its a 98 Sedan. The a/c was working just fine till It stopped cooling and basically the a/c compressor needs repair because Its leaking. Now I'm left with rolling up and down my windows to get some air in the car.

Whats been bothering me is that the windows are sooo hard to roll up. I tried adjusting the sides of the window track and nothing really seems to make a difference. The left door has a new regulator. The glass doesn't seems to be interfering with anything. And I'm guessing because the window tint is old its been getting damaged. The tint has been crystallizing. The tint comes off as a dust type of thing.

This really frustrates me, please any helpful answers? And also whats up with the tint being crystallized?

I have similar issues...the windows are sometimes hard to roll up/down, and sometimes a sticky residue smears on the the inside of the window when I roll them up. Hopefully we can get some advice...

Is the window coming off track? Try using a silicon lubricant in the run channels for the window..

That happened on my old civic. The felt lining on the inside was deteriorating, might look into replacing that

That's currently happening to my civic, but it turned out to be the inside of the weather strip was deteriorating.

I had some of that sticky residue too, cleaning the glass my tint would come of as a crystal like form. When you would get some of it on your finger it looks like crystals. Probable because the tint is old? Not sure.

No, my tint is less than a year old.

I think it's what everyone else said, the lining inside the door panel is deteriorating. That may also be the reason why it's hard to roll up/down. I'll check it out soon as I'll be installing some power door lock actuators and resurfacing my door panels soon anyway

Im not sure what you refer to as "door panel lining", but the only door-panel related item that can impede the glass is the upper trim where the glass slides on. Over time, the sun can melt the felt-like material which causes the sticky residue on the glass. Its still not enough to significantly slow the glass. But if you're removing the door panel soon, just make time to scrape f the residue and clean it up.

The likely culprit should be dirty run channels. Thoroughly clean them out. I use some alcohol and cotton swabs because its easier to fit my hand through. AFter theyre cleaned, lube the channels up with Shin-Etsu grease, which can be ordered at a Honda dealership. Also, check that the rubber channels arent pinched between the glass somehow. Its less likely, but still possible.

Word. Thanks for the info. I plan to remove the door panels soon anyway to apply some dynamat, and I'll do what you recommended
