I think that's the one I've used in the past. I shaded my OEM taillights and gave it a better look. If that's the one you can buy at your local ASP (Advanced Auto Parts) then its the one I used. It comes in a spray paint can that's like kind of purple. Its good. Never gave me a problem.

This will reduce the amount of light coming out, which is kind of the point of taillights. Might also check with local laws as I am sure it's illegal. Just an FYI

I used to do this a dozen times a month or so back in the day before I got burned out. I advertised once on craigslist and that was all she wrote. One time post and wound up doing it for almost a year at $50 a set. Anyway, the way I did it was use an airbrush gun and mixed automotive clear coat with automotive tinting agent (they make them in every color under the sun but it's not cheap). By FARRRR better than VHT night shades. BY FAR.

Anyway, for me, it's worth paying someone else to do this. I had to sand down many people's mistakes after they caked on some VHT and either made it look like garbage or they got pulled over for it being too dark or what ever. I'd pay someone $50 all day to have it done right at a "legal" shade (I believe tinted tails and headlights is illegal in all 50 states though it's rarely a ticketed offense on it's own). VHT will not give you a glossy look by itself. It's almost like a satin tint. I don't like it. Either clear over it or just find someone that will do it for you from a clear coat auto gun. I'm sure someone local to you can do it on the cheap.

My .02 anyway. Good luck!

90% of people make a total mess out of vht night shade. A real shop will use a film like headlight armor or add a few drops of black paint to clear coat and paint them with that

IMO the smoking of lights should not be done on a civic or honda at that point... Keep that trend for the newer cars 2006+

This, in my opinion, is really dumb. It's illegal, and defeats the purpose of tail lights/headlights, but if you want to do it, take it somewhere. My buddy owns a shop, and they used window tint. It came out amazing, and could be removed if need be.

Call autofx in Tacoma. They are the ones that smoke our customers lights here @ Porsche. Should be around $75-100 per set depending on size. They use the darkened clear coat method AlaskaB16 was talking about.

I have NEVER seen VHT nightshades done right. Autofx makes it look like it came from the factory.

Pic below is our display tail light. Left side is mild tint right side is completely stock.
