Please CC, does anyone know how to install rear calipers on say a 98 hatch CX? I really wanna do that to my car. Please, anyone have any clue please lemme know wassup.

I know there has to be a secondreservoir installed for additional fluids but that's about it. I'm dying to install this system in my car to put cross drilled rotors all around.:D:D:D:D:D

What I'm really tryna know is if it can be a 1 person DIY task. Is there any DIYs out there? Pretty mediocre question lol but I just can't find it. Please help me out!

If you have little mechanical experience, modifying brakes should be the LAST thing you do. Also, it's quite costly. All those tutorials out there and lists can't save your ass when you're in an emergency and brake but your rear calipers don't bite because you didn't install it correctly.
Im assuming you don't know much, so I really advise you not to do this swap, brakes are more important than all that horsepower and torque you can get into your engine.

If you still chose to be reckless and "OMG IMMA PUT THIS"

You don't need a second reservoir. Where have you ever seen separate ones for front and rear? That is what a proportioning valve is for.

Idk if it's 2 reservoirs, but I've seen Civics with calipers in the back and when I looked at the brake master cylinder, there were 2 cups for brake fluid. Both had Spoon sock looking things wrapped around them. I'm guessing the second, smaller one was for the rear calipers.

That second reservoir is for the clutch fluid.

Ohhhhh ok. Thanks for that info. That cleared up my confusion. I drive an automatic hatch. So I wouldn't know anything about clutch. That sure smacked me in the face lol:p

It's called a rear disc conversion. If you search those terms you will find a lot of information about what is involved.

Also, it's quite costly. All those tutorials out there and lists can't save your ass when you're in an emergency and brake but your rear calipers don't bite because you didn't install it correctly.

It's actually not expensive at all to do this conversion.

Brakes are important but they are also a pretty easy thing to work on and your rear brakes don't actually do all much on a FWD. If you do have trouble with your brakes it's going to be obvious pretty quick and then you just go back and take a second look. It's really not that big of a deal.

I know how you feel ;)
You won't need to change your proportioning valve you have, it is the same as the 99-00 si that has rear discs. You will need new brake lines for the rear, your new complete rear brake conversion, and 99-00 si emergency brake cables, integras or 92-95 civic cables won't work because the wheel base is 2" shorter, so their cables are 2" too short. And if you need to, to ahead and replace pads, rotors, and calipers depending on condition.

Guys thanks for all the info . After doing more research with the suggestions posted, I'm starting to understand it more and more. Just need to get the parts I need right for the conversion and I should be able to pull it off right in my garage with my pops:D:D:D:D:D:D:thumbup:

I just finished this swap. Its pretty straight forward and really easy. The only thing is you can run into problems that aren't really hard just a pain in the rear. That all depends on your vehicle though. Rusty bolts and corroded bushings can make an easy afternoon mod an all day pain. My lower control arm bushings were so rotted they pretty much welded themselves to the bolts. I think I cut out more bolts then I took out with a ratchet.

Yes indeed. When I installed my anodized red lower control arms in the rear, the old ones were so rusty and bonded together that I had to use the torch to get it out. Just one side tho.

Because he didn't even know what it was called. Can't google it if you don't even know what its called. Clearly, they are qualified to be doing such work.

I don't want to see just any rear disc conversion. I wanted to see HIS rear conversion and it turned out for HIM.
