Find out why the belts fell off. Might have to take it to a shop depending on why they did. They fall or snap?

Going to need some more information than that.

No, you can't drive it with ALL the belts off. Powersteering and AC is about the only ones you can do without. The main one that goes around the water pump and the alternator belt, you kind of need.

Well, belts are cheap, but the reason they fell off might not be. I still don't understand. It's not a serp belt that runs everything, there are multiple belts with multiple attach points. Unless the main pully on the crank busted? That is the only one they all have in common.

The woodruff key can shear off on the crank pulley, the timing belt is ran off the gear behind the pulley. In that instance the crank will turn but the pulley will just sit in one place, not turning the belts. Belts do not just fall off unless they become loose, check your tensioner and see if the adjustment screw 1)backed out or 2) broke.

crash!

Avi, pull your socks up.

^^ that's where a "thump" might come from...

you can drive it as the timing belt is driven by the crank which drives all the other belts, depends on how far you have to drive though because without a belt on the alternator the car will lose all power within a few minutes of driving then you will have a dead battery

Okay. Found the crank pulley laying in the bay after I messed with it today. The bolt was missing and I picked up another crank pulley bolt and key today.. is there a certain way to install it. Any tips?

Need help...

So I torqued the crank pulley bolt to specs and now the instructions say I need to loosen it all the way and retorque it. Problem is that I can't get it off. Any tricks to help me out?!! Thanks.

Looks like my crankshaft snout is rounded where the key sits in. Is the key supposed to fit in it perfectly?... Really hope I can fix this!!

You dont need to retorque it. Drive it for a few days and then hit it with the torque wrench one more time. The key should fit snug inside it. The rest of your last key may be embedded in that part of the crank (where it sheared). Try to clear it out.

You think this is the reason it fell out in the first place? Also if It does fall out again will it cause internal damage?

Yes I am certain thats why. If the woodruff key isnt there, there is nothing to make the pulley spin. And no it wont cause any internal damage. You just wont have a/c or power steering or your alternator charging.
