F&F type 1 stuck

So, I went to raise up my car, and 3 of the 4 of my coilovers raise up.The coilovers are Function Form Type 1's The last one is literally stuck, and wont spin like its supposed to. What can I do to make it raise up? It's the rear passenger one that is stuck.

Are you doing it by hand or do the ff1 come with a tool? My skunk sleeves came with a tool n without breaking the nut loose with the tool I can't do it by hand

I've tried using the tool, and i've tried by hand. but the thread is stuck and wont spin from the bottom lower mount.

Soak it in pb blaster or wd40. Adjust it up, soak it again wipe it clean, dirt and debris love them, check the threads and go back down. It doesn't have a set screw does it?

I've tried pb blaster and wd40 for a week straight, and it still doesn't budge. and no it doesn't have a set screw.

Well it was on some ground controls I just threw it away actually. I don't think you can fix the thread tbh

You see, so that can happen to any coilover or sleeve brand not just f&f 1's

Take the coilover off completely and put it in a vise. Get some big pliers and turn that b***h. It should brake loose.

Take the coilover apart. My Tein's got clogged with dirt and I couldn't adjust the lower collar as well. I put the car down, (as in no jackstands) and proceeded to take the coilover apart. When you have the top part unbolted and whatnot, start to jack the car back up. Be careful because the spring is going to be tensioned with the weight of the car. When I was able to disassemble mine, I cleaned it with WD40 and spun the collars so they could remember the path, so to speak. Hope it helps

Thanks, i'll give it a shot when I have some free time, but F&F sells replacement struts . do you think that'd be worth it?

No, terrible idea. If its cross threaded and not just clogged with dirt you're going to screw yourself big time. That's why I said adjust it up and check your threads. If it is cross threaded you can hit it with a thead file and smooth it back out. If you force it down all you're doing is messing up more threads. I just did the same process on a guys VW at my shop.

Pull them out and then check for cross threaded sleeves.

Then use a file like ^ said to fix the threads.

Don't see how the fnf would have been cross threaded since you don't have to put them together. It's probably just filthy.

As a heads up, if you get it cleaned and threading properly, that lower locking perch only needs to be hand tight. It should be easy to unlock with the car off the ground while using the tool. I see those get stuck when people tighten them really good and then set the car back down (which puts more force on that perch making it even tighter).

Kerry I have those bottom perches hand tightend. but i'll try to loosen it again :thumbup:
