Are VW's really that great? last i heard its like working on a flux capacitor when trying to do simple maintenance, plus in my opionion if you are going to buy german you gotta get a Mercedes Or BMW do not settle for a VW. Cuz if you got the money to buy a VW just save for another 3 months and you will have enough for a MERC Or a BMW.

Oh come on. Save for another 3 months? Vw tips out at what $40k? Mercedes is double that for their cheapest model.

61k starting For M3!!!

Actually you can buy a Brand new M3 for less than 80k, at least i can through my military only bank, that being said a base model BMW starts at about the same as a Higher End VW. Just go to BMW.com and build your own to see how much you would be paying. M3 start off at 61k, obviously a big ol V8 is going to Be extremely expensive no matter which route you go these days, Ford, Chevy, Friggin Nissan it does not matter if you want a V8 these days you gotta pay the big bucks.
With all that said as well, i still know abolutely nothing about VW except i saw a golf GTI at the dealership out here for just under 30k, used had a turbo and only 201 HP at the Flywheel. My friggin Si came with 197HP at the Flywheel and as we all know there is no turbo option available for the civic at this time. I bought my SI of the SHowroom floor with 21 miles on the thing all from the salesmen that test drove it for 23k and some change So it is a Huge difference for me to 23k to just under 30k makes a 400 payment turn into about 600. Really a big deal for most people if you know what i mean.

My comment about them being double is a bit out of the park, I admit but you can't even compare VW vs. BMW or Mercedes. They aren't even in the same league when it comes to price. Take a Jetta...they start at $16K. The equivalent from BMW starts at $36K and Mercedes starts at $35K. That is a bit more than saving up for an extra couple months, that's over double the price.

That's like saying screw buying a civic, just save for a couple months more and buy TL or TSX. Not the same league.

The fact of the vw being only 201 hp and the si being slightly under is something to think about however vw is already turboed and modding a already turbo car can save some money and time in the hp department.

The thing is the civic was never meant to be a sporty car. Its an econobox. I think thats where honda f**ked up was trying to make them sporty from the factory.

Thats y theres not much interest in the newer civics. They arent normal looking cars. Honda tried too hard.

I like the look of the new civic personally, but would still love a Hatchback more than the new body style for sure. That being said having a civic with a turbo straight from the factory would probably not be a good idea because then everyone would have one man!

I agree for the most part. I think honda found that they have had such a huge amount of people wanting something sporty and with the same good economy mode car that can handle rather well.
