How and where to install a push start on honda civic 2002 lx 4dr auto.

I want to install a push starter on my honda just for kicks. Iv looked at different treads (not on this site) and some have recommended removing the climate control nobs and replace it with the button and two other gauges. i, for one, think that is totally silly and believe that the climate control is the most amazing thing in the vehicle other than the engine, but i digress. So, my questions are, how do i install the push start (such as wiring) and where should i get the pieces for those things. the idea i have for placing it is right next to the cruise control button, on the far left side of the dash, because there is a little slot with nothing there. If it helps, i have a new stereo with no cd player. please help, and thanks for your time =)

Umm not much of an intro thread but if you have been reading up should read wire diagrams for your car to hook up push start. The kit should come maybe with directions and wiring needed.

I put mine on the side of the driver seat so nobody could start my car unless they knew where the button was.

Put the button where NOBODY KNOWS! Isnt that the point? For extra security?

No, it's more of a novelty item. Unless you set it all the time, meaning it draws directly from the starter, you NEED the key to be on for it to work. Even then you can still start the car with the key. No security really. Car can still be hot wired, even more so now that you have wires outside of the steering column that go to the ignition system. They are more exposed.

Only way to eliminate the key, that I can think of would be to put a switch that you would flip on to get power and then push the button to start the car. Currently the push button systems require you to turn the key on, then push the button, just like in the s2k.

*edit* I just looked. There are expensive kits that give you a brain and a remote thingy that allows you to not have to use the key like in a higher end vehicle. Just need the key fob inside the car somewhere, your pocket is fine. They are very expensive though.

That was more of a hidden kill switch than a push button start then? Do you remember what brand it was?
