Questions about Honda's and modifications

Hey guys I'm new to Honda and all cars Japenese and I really want to get into cars, but have no clue where to begin. Any suggestions such as books, websites, magazines etc that /I can read to gain knowledge about Honda's specifically?

I recently purchased my first car, a 00' Civic EX and was thinking of doing some mods, but I'm not really sure where to begin(I'm not a fan of body kits so that's a no, i was thinking of using coils if anything). What are some common CIvic mods?

Thanks,

Some pics might be nice. Your best way to learn (at least 4me) is just to browse as much as you can about Hondas. Research research research. But lower, shine your rims up, and see if you can find a good looking lip or something

Yeah paint the sideskirts. Lower it on some coilovers, leave the spoiler IMO. Get a lip if u find one u like. And save up for a swap/turbo when u get bored of being slow lol

Yeah your right. Leave the spoiler and see if you like it. It's not fun patching the hole up after removing lol.

When it comes this Civic I probably will only change its physical appearance since its an auto and I'm waiting to do all my mechanical mods on a stick Civic Si when I eventually get it. But everybody I talk to about my car tells me to make it "JDM" what exactly does that mean?

Don't listen to them. Just do what YOU want to do with it.

Jdm=Stupid.
There's edm, ukdm, usdm, and jdm. They're the regional domestic markets, different parts are manufactured in different places and different parts make a bigger hit in certain places.
Edm= Euro Domestic market
Ukdm= United Kingdom Domestic market
Usdm= United States

Jdm= Japanese. But people in the US saying JDM deserve to be slapped. It's lost it's meaning, now jdm means ricer and its imported from Japan means badass.

I have an imported engine from Japan is better than saying I have a jdm engine.

Just my .02 rant. Car looks good. Slam it

Agreed. You should never modify your car based on others opinions. Thats how you become one of these fools wasting thousands of dollars changing mods over the years.

As for being "JDM", someone correct me if I'm mistaken but exterior differences dont include much more than clear headlights and the bumpers with the added trims. The bigger JDM differences are inside in the center console for the most part. Just research all the options via Google and random searches in the forum and you'll figure it out.

So because some people misuse the term, using it correctly isn't correct? :what:
The simply fact that someone immediately uses the term incorrectly should be a dead giveaway not to listen to them. JeffBel, it sounds like you have more of an issue with the misuse of the term that the products themselves. To say "JDM = Stupid" is a grossly inaccurate statement. But back to the topic at hand. JDM simply offers more options not offered in the US, which is what drives the subjective opinion that JDM is universally "better".

I agree with everyone else do to the car what you want to do to it
buy quality parts and put them on the right way so youll only have to do it once
to most people jdm just means clean and simple no real aggresive exterior mods and the stuff mentioned above that are different in the japenese market
however if you are fine with you interior pieces or like your bumpers and stuff like that they way it is no point in wasting money to get the jdm version unless you really like it.
you can put that money towards wheels or something else you really would like to have thats your style.
cars are a reflection of their owners and to me have always been a blank canvas it takes awhile for them to come together
if your looking for a few ideas check out my build thread link is in my sig see anything you like ask me about it ill be more than happy to tell you anything i know and help you in anyway i can

I understand that. But then when it get call jdm when all it is, just a normal tps. That's what bugs me. Not just the products, but the individuals that call them jdm.
